(4.2/5 based on 440+ reviews on the web)
Admire the designs and intricate manufacturing of traditional fabrics at Museo Textil de Oaxaca, a museum promoting Oaxaca's famous textile heritage. The museum showcases a number of Oaxacan and international pieces from its main collection of over 5,000 artworks, creating themed exhibits throughout the year. Through the emphasis on local weaving techniques, you'll learn how the colorful garments you see around the town are made. In addition, the museum details the links between different styles of textile manufacturing around the world in a range of exhibits, workshops, talks, and tours. Get some inspiration from the pieces on display, and then head to the gift shop to pick up supplies for making some garments of your own. • If you are into textiles or fabrics then you should not miss this. I did expect traditional Mexican textiles but there was an exhibition of Japanese and Indonesian fabrics too.

  • I love Mexicans!
  • Beautiful architecture and a different thematic. Free for visiting.
  • A hidden gem in the city of Oaxaca! Do not miss the brick wall in the center patio, amazing!
  • Beautiful building. High quality display. Unfortunately, only a small part of reportedly large collection is on display.
  • Excellent displays, weaving classes given, good explanatory bound guide-booklets in each room (only in Spanish). Free entry.
