With rooms dedicated to pre-Hispanic times, the colonial era, the independence era, the present, and the old baroque church itself, the museum covers a broad range of cultures. Detailing the history, traditions, and ways of life of different cultures throughout history, the museum explores the similarities and differences between different social groups, whether they lived concurrently or were divided by centuries. Don't miss the chance to see the contents of an ancient Mixtec tomb, including the jewels, gold, and precious stones that were buried with a king and his sacrificed servants. • In its many rooms it is possible to admire archaeological pieces, jewels of the Tomb 7 of Monte Albán (one of the most important treasures of Mesoamerica) and objects of the ancient culture of Oaxaca. On the ground floor a large exhibition on the extraordinary Mexican engraver Leopoldo Méndez.

  • Very interesting Museum housed in a former convent just beside the Temple de Santo Domingo de Guzman. Inside you will find, on three floors and in countless halls, testimony of Spanish rule in Mexico and priceless artifacts from the tombs of Mont Alban. Turn the nose takes a long time and there is no logical path well indicated that directs the visitor to the spatio-temporal trip that one would expect: Nevertheless the exhibits are so beautiful and precious that I consider this visit not to be missed!

  • The building is a former convent beautiful and huge. The architecture is beautiful. You can enjoy more if you take a guide, there are several at the entrance of the place, you need to know to choose a good one, I highly recommend Mr Francisco Reyes, to the met in the Church of Santo Domingo where they gave us a very comprehensive and detailed explanation. The place is taken to traverse, but with the wonder that we were and perceive it, you should go with plenty of time. It is a place that you can't miss!

  • The best museum showcasing the history of Oaxaca. Plan on a three hour visit to complete all of the galas. Price is $65 pesos ($4 dollars) per person.
  • An upper portico overlooking the garden is my favorite place in Cuidad Oaxaca, I think. Beautiful, peaceful. The museum itself is OK. I like its clear perspective on local history.
  • expect to stay for a few hours. Great museum.
  • Interesting exhibition, but there could be more information about the history, especially the ancient. The English audio guide helps but it's not a lot related to what you see.
  • mandatory visit when in Oaxaca. May even be the main reason to come here
