  • I will be honest but I entered this museum only for its wonderful architectural work as for the stamps. If you are interested in stamps perhaps it could be a wonderful special museum for you. I was mo...  more »
  • I went to the Museo de Filatelia expecting to see rows of glass cases displaying stamps from Mexico and potentially other parts of the world. What I found was more akin to an artful display of stamps ...  more »
  • The Museum is small but has so much to offer the traveller... makes you feel that you're at home, very nice stay in place, the history of stamp in Mexico is really interesting, many people remember how was the communication before the internet and the smart phones and for those who were born on the border of the change is very entertaining to have on hand so much history in a space with class, I definitely recommend it.

  • Incredibly interesting museum, beautifully designed, free admission. You can visit in order to work on your laptop, have some coffee or just have a great time at the patio. They offer different events directed to children and adults.
  • Very surprised at how amazing this museum is. No charge entry. Drawers and drawers of stamps. An exhibit on surrealism. Oddity around every corner. Worth investigating.
  • A nice little museum. Also a great place to sit with a coffee and a book
  • Super fun kind of silly stamp museum. It's free and it has the weirdest surreal art collection
  • I know a stamp museum may sound queer to the unfamiliar visitors to Oaxaca, but this place is such a gem. Courtyards for zen-filled reading or coffee, great exhibitions (local corn, Frida Kahlo, etc.), wifi, photo ops galore, and a fantastic little gift shop. Stop here after the botanic garden!

Where to stay in Oaxaca

Oaxaca's size and diversity make it an especially good place to find budget-friendly accommodations, in particular youth hostels and family-run "posadas." These affordable options, along with mid-range and boutique hotels, line the cozy streets of Oaxaca's historic center, probably the most convenient area in the city. You can also find a decent range of options just north of the center, in the neighborhoods of La Paz and Guelaguetza.
