  • It is a small food market. In the Center there are typical restaurants with typical food. We tested the traditional black mole and a tlayuda. Open for breakfast, lunch and eat.

  • In this place you can find all kinds of food and drinks, in particular I recommend the so-called "meat market" where you can order your cuts served barbecue charcoal, there are a variety of butcher shops to choose and it is a very curious place because the tor pads are ordered clapping thing you don't see in other places, you can order roast beef, jerky, tasajo, chorizo and gut, the disadvantage is that you have to wait a long time so that they serve you your order and they sell you everything to part (salads, sauces, tortillas (, vegetables) there are also lot of smoke since it is enclosed, but undoubtedly it is mandatory for all visitors step.

  • An amazing market to try genuine Oaxacan dishes at many of the market stalls offering home made dishes like tlayuda or oaxacan tamales. You must visit the passage of roasted meats where you order meat from the stall, order plates of vegetables then they grill it right there. purchase fresh tortillas and sides from local vendors then feast away. You cannot miss visiting this market in Oaxaca.
  • Awesome and very clean market. Keep an eye out for the BBQ smoke alley. It has fantastic food! For the vegetarian, the food court can accommodate your needs.
  • If there is a food heaven anywhere on earth - or a bunch of them scattered around - one of them has to be Mercado 20 de Noviembre. Let the pictures do rest of the talking for me.
  • Authentic Mexican food, the flavour of spices in the air and good mezcal to try and buy. I liked the place and would come back.
  • Amazing experience. Food, craft and delicious meals. Love Pan de Cazuela with cholocate.

Where to stay in Oaxaca

Oaxaca's size and diversity make it an especially good place to find budget-friendly accommodations, in particular youth hostels and family-run "posadas." These affordable options, along with mid-range and boutique hotels, line the cozy streets of Oaxaca's historic center, probably the most convenient area in the city. You can also find a decent range of options just north of the center, in the neighborhoods of La Paz and Guelaguetza.
