  • It was the first time we visited a synagogue and I must say that it was a wonderful experience to know better a place so emblematic of a religion other than the Christian. It struck me how different that is the place to the Christian churches, each place has a function and in particular how this synagogue represented a living space for the nascent community Jewish in Mexico. What good that you have decided to open it to the public for concer better their culture and way of life. Visit recommended in the historic centre of the CDMX.

  • People have written a bunch about this, so I'll just add this: if you're Jewish, Jew-curious, or simply interested in religious history, it's worth a stop. The synagogue is not active anymore--the con...  more »
  • It was not mentioned in any of the guides we had with us and we stumbled in front of standing in front of Plaza Loreto. Synagogue built in 1941 in neo-colonial style and restored in 2009. Visiting freely with free admission from 10 to 17 from Sunday to Friday. If you want to attend a guided tour that starts at 11 and lasts for forty minutes, in this case you pay 40 pesos. We visited by just reading all the information on the site very well done. Only in Mexico classified historic synagogue. For me to see.

  • Great historic building. No mass is conducted here, except the occasional talks and workshops. One can buy several trinkets, kippas, and gifts. The interior of the synagogue is well preserved.
  • This renovated Orthodox Ashkenazik synagogue is spectacular. I recommend a visit to people of all religions and denominations.
  • I highly recommend checking this place out. Very well taken care of free to walk around.
  • Amazing!

Where to stay in Mexico City

Head straight to the trendy neighborhoods of Roma or La Condesa if you're looking for an artsy atmosphere--you can find design-conscious hostels and boutique hotels nestled among the many bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries. For easy access to the city's most beautiful architecture, you can't beat staying in the historical center, although the neighborhood's UNESCO-listing means you'll only find smaller, old-fashioned options there. You can also indulge in a few luxury nights in the fancy Polanco district, or look for a more budget-friendly option in the popular Zona Rosa.
