  • not far from the Zócalo, this historical square is home to the homonymous Baroque church, the former Palace of the Inquisition and the Secretaria de Educacion Publica where for free you can admire numerous murals by Diego Rivera. But the soul of the square is the presence of scribes with their shops and their typewriters that still use to transcribe official texts or personal. Relive here the ancient Scripture also declined in all its forms from greeting cards to personal moulds. I got excited in reviewing the typewriters in use.

  • We begin our exploration of the city through the Plaza Santo Domingo, close to our hotel and not far from the Zocalo. Beautiful peaceful place. We find a small restaurant with terrace where we will probably go. There is also a beautiful bronze sculpture in the shape of a throne whose base and support arm are two beautifully decorated kicks dogs. We visit Santo Domingo, small baroque church temple where we notice the cracks in the floor, result probably of tremors.

Where to stay in Mexico City

Head straight to the trendy neighborhoods of Roma or La Condesa if you're looking for an artsy atmosphere--you can find design-conscious hostels and boutique hotels nestled among the many bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries. For easy access to the city's most beautiful architecture, you can't beat staying in the historical center, although the neighborhood's UNESCO-listing means you'll only find smaller, old-fashioned options there. You can also indulge in a few luxury nights in the fancy Polanco district, or look for a more budget-friendly option in the popular Zona Rosa.
