  • every year there is the book fair international organized by the UNAM who is the owner of the building. Apart from that, there are exhibition on meteorites, a view of the old library and the architecture in this place. In front of this building, this Museum of Arts, and the equestrian statue of Carlos IV (better known as "El Caballito").

  • The site is one of the masterpieces of the Valencian neoclassical architect Manuel Tolsá, from the façade, to the Chapel, the Hall and stairs are beautiful and worth visiting it step by step. Sadly, only you can go if you pay a local tour with very restricted schedules. That away would-be visitors wanting to know the place at any time. Anyway, it is worth paying the $30 or $15 pesos for the Guide to gain access to this beautiful building.

  • Architecturally awesome. This twisted ancient University Castle is great for taking courses, exploring the libraries, or staying for seasonal events. You can find ancient books and new books in these separated resources maintained by UNAM. Besides it has a huge metheoryte!

  • Mining Palace is the masterpiece New Spain by Valencian architect Manuel Tolsá. It's beautiful inside and out and has that simple harmony characteristic of his style. For all the activities that take place there only can be visited on Saturday and Sunday with a local guide at designated times or groups of 15 people or more appointment.

Where to stay in Mexico City

Head straight to the trendy neighborhoods of Roma or La Condesa if you're looking for an artsy atmosphere--you can find design-conscious hostels and boutique hotels nestled among the many bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries. For easy access to the city's most beautiful architecture, you can't beat staying in the historical center, although the neighborhood's UNESCO-listing means you'll only find smaller, old-fashioned options there. You can also indulge in a few luxury nights in the fancy Polanco district, or look for a more budget-friendly option in the popular Zona Rosa.
