Enjoy priceless collections by Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, and Olmedo herself, contained within this five-building complex. Stroll in the exquisite grounds, as roaming peacocks show off their fanned tails, and native Mexican hairless dogs, or Xoloitzcuintles, enjoy the sun. • I took the subway, a bus, and a light rail line to get to this museum. The manicured grounds and exhibition rooms made the trip worth it. Most exhibition rooms were closed for renovation when I was th...  more »
  • Best collection in the world of the work of Diego Rivera and Frida Callo not to mention the pre-Hispanic art pieces that exist in profusion. Gardens and other outdoor spaces very well cared for. Beautiful peacocks. School of Arts and other workshop for children. A living and open museum to the community

  • While getting there isn't really hard, the "far away" and "isolated" of the rest of CDMX attractions means that many don't even know it exists. As I told you, getting there is not difficult, it is only long (Metro L2 to Tasqueña and there take the light rail and descend at the station "La Noria"). By the way, the best tamal cake of my life, I ate it at the entrance to the museum. This former estate from 1700 has the famous painting of "The Broken Column" by Frida Khalo, the set of cutlery of Maximilian and Carlota, a kind of "sanctuary" for dogs of xoloitzcuintle breed, beautiful gardens and in November, they mount an altar of day of the dead in the part Rear... in addition to the permanent exhibition of Mexican ceramics.

  • Beautiful! The garden is splendid with peacocks everywhere. The art collection is good but depends on your taste in the matter. There's even a little coffee shop closed to the house. Not that cheap for foreigners and being able to take photos inside cost an extra. But overall a good value.
  • One of my favorite spots of the city, it is a must if you consider yourself as a fan of Diego and Frida. Beautiful garden with peacocks and xolos... Mexican dogs. At the end you will find an exhibition of handcraft of all around Mexico, really well selected pieces.
  • Dolores Olmedo is a great Museum to know Rivera and Kahlo's work and many more details about Dolores Olmedo and her life. Beautiful place.
  • What a delightful little compound...a beautiful setting of animals (peacock birds and black, hairless, buckterth dogs) combined with artwork and a cute little restaurant. I can confirm the beer is both cold and delish...the food is solid good also. I learned quite a bit about Diego, Olmegas, and Frida. Informative and a nice surprise.
  • Good place to go in Xochimilco. Olmedo's importance to Diego and Frida's story is visible throughout the visitation, as well as her role in Mexican art preservation.
