A Museum in a large, modern building, students do not pay and general $60. It has a wide collection of folk art from Mexico, from alebrijes to miniature figures! At present only has 4 rooms, since the others are remodeling but visit is pleasant and the Museum has very good information and teaching material. In addition, its souvenir shop is a must! It has a recognition as one of the best there are a variety of crafts and memories of Mexico.

This is one of the museums that I liked most about the visit to the city. They are three very spacious flats with diversity of exhibitions on folk art in the country. Mexicans have many interesting works that are reflected in this museum. Access 10 to 18 Tuesday, Wednesday from 10 to 21 and from Thursday to Sunday from 10 to 18. The entrance is $60 pesos. Fact: Sunday admission is free.

I went with my two kids (7 & 9) after passing the museum several times and peeking at the colorful creatures through the windows. The museum was bright and the exhibits cleverly displayed. Even my kids, who are NOT museum people, were calling me over to point out their favorite skeletons and scary masks and wanted pictures with them. I enjoyed the display of traditional clothing. If you are with young children and a big museum is overwhelming, but you crave a little culture, this could do the trick. We probably spent 45 minutes there going pretty fast and skipping a floor. (PS "La Gloria" right across the street has a good breakfast!)

Discovered this museum walking to another museum. Cost a couple of USD to enter. Very fun and interesting. Very well planned out. The gift shop is very tempting but I recommend using your discretion. There were some things we saw later that were cheaper but not by crazy amounts and you are supporting a museum.

Great place, with many exhibits and a wide range of media. Students and teachers enter for free

This museum is absolutely amazing! You won't learn much about history but you will see vibrant colors, shapes, and things that only peyote smokers have the imagination to conjure up. Highly recommend just for sheer visual pleasure.

Where to stay in Mexico City

Head straight to the trendy neighborhoods of Roma or La Condesa if you're looking for an artsy atmosphere--you can find design-conscious hostels and boutique hotels nestled among the many bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries. For easy access to the city's most beautiful architecture, you can't beat staying in the historical center, although the neighborhood's UNESCO-listing means you'll only find smaller, old-fashioned options there. You can also indulge in a few luxury nights in the fancy Polanco district, or look for a more budget-friendly option in the popular Zona Rosa.
