Leon Trotsky Museum, Mexico City

(4.2/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
See the original home where Leon Trotsky lived in hiding and was eventually killed in 1940 at Leon Trotsky Museum. The site has transformed the home into a museum dedicated to the life of the Russian Marxist politician. Observe the house as it was at that time of his death, particularly the study in which Ramón Mercader brutally murdered him. Stroll through the outside garden overshadowed by watchtowers where Trotsky's tomb--containing his ashes and engraved with a hammer and sickle--lies. • The entrance to the place is expensive for what it offers. It has a section of photos in giant poster and exhibition of personal belongings of Trosky. The place is payment. The House is beautiful, inside is supposedly very conserved as it was after the bombing of Trosky, you can see the holes of bullets in the wall, humility in which they lived, etc.

  • Total excitement! The remains of Trotsky and your wife are in place. The House is open to visitation (all dependencies). The ticket is not expensive and worth it!

  • To visit her, it allows to know the style and way of life of this man, very good exhibition of photos and details of her life. To improve your personal attention, more willingness to help.

  • My knowledge of Trotsky was as follows, involved in Russian revolution, isolated by Stalin, killed by an icepick in Mexico. It's fair to say there was holes to be filled. This did a good job of somewhat filling them. It features photos and displays how his house was at the time of his death. There is a decent amount of English translations but there could be more. Aside from that biggest compliment I can pay is now more interested on his life than before I visited.
  • Very interesting museum of communism. There are supposed to be free Spanish and English tours provided, however, on the day we went only Spanish tours were offered. Plenty of pictures and various items were on display, most of which had an English explanation. The museum also offered the view of Trotsky's garden and home. The cost is $40 pesos per person and you can spend about 30-40 minutes touring. It is a smaller museum. Worth the visit. Nearby is the market.
  • Absolute Must in Mexico DF. It will explain a bit the communism, the people who were leading the movement.
  • Small but interesting museum, a good chance to learn more about controversial history of the USSR through a tradegy of one man.
  • Interesting small museum , very cool history, and it's usually not that full
