  • Just me captive! Face exposure to Mexico, but worth it. To begin with, an exhibition so crazy and so contemporary in a colonial enclosure... woooow! Excellent curating and the panorama giving Burton since its inception as a student until his unused works is very instructive. In short: exacerbated fantasy, imagination and talent... This is genius not L to Miss

  • The Museum is located next to Mall of the city of Mexico, where the exhibition "The world of Tim Burton" is located. The exhibition is great if you like cinema and above all the films. But the place itself is great is an old mansion of the XVII century with spacious hallways, high ceilings and central courtyard with gardens and fountain. You must visit it

  • Franz Meyer is always one of my favorites. Its permanent decorative arts collection is truly spectacular. Good to see crowds with Tim Burton. Exhibit had more sketches than I like. I recall one pf his...  more »

  • The Franz Mayer museum is my favorite in the city because it has exhibitions of design and quality art: World Press Photo and Biennial Ceramics are the highlights of the year. It is accessible to all users. Sadly there are no free Sundays, only Tuesdays and only for permanent exhibitions. Either way, it's a very nice place, they have a central plaza with a fountain, cafeteria service, a very luxurious library where you can request books if you take the credential out of the place (getting it costs 40 pesos). An excellent place to be at the forefront.
  • So so, definitely not the best nor the most comfortable of museums. I saw the Tim Burton exhibit here and the shop area was terrible. Food from the cafeteria was edible
  • Wonderful place that really gathers and conjures up the illustrious past of colonial Mexico and Latin America. There are many artifacts on display that show European influence of colonial life in the New World; from every day furniture, paintings and even pure silver religious relics. Take your time and relax at the open air court adjacent to the museum and relax with a coffee. The main drawback is that it's missing an audio tour of the museum displays and information in English for the foreign visitors.
  • One of my favorites, home of the annual World Press Photo and multiple great exhibitions during the year, beautiful architecture and a central patio with trees and a fountain that takes you apart from the daily rush
  • A beautiful museum, and one of the best kept. Wish it had descriptions in English too.

Where to stay in Mexico City

Head straight to the trendy neighborhoods of Roma or La Condesa if you're looking for an artsy atmosphere--you can find design-conscious hostels and boutique hotels nestled among the many bars, restaurants, cafes, and galleries. For easy access to the city's most beautiful architecture, you can't beat staying in the historical center, although the neighborhood's UNESCO-listing means you'll only find smaller, old-fashioned options there. You can also indulge in a few luxury nights in the fancy Polanco district, or look for a more budget-friendly option in the popular Zona Rosa.
