Categories: Architectural Buildings, Tourist Spots
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 800+ reviews on the web
Plaza Grande represents a main gathering point in the heart of the city. The former Spanish "Plaza de Armas," it was built on the site of the ancient Mayan city of T'ho and named after the eponymous town in Spain. Rest in the shade of tall laurel trees that line the verdant square, or admire the historic buildings that surround it, with stuccoed pastel-colored facades. View the antique cathedral, one of the oldest in North America, people-watch, or take in the square's busy atmosphere. • This beautiful square deserves that, during your stay, if you go back several time, there's always something happening! Much loved by locals where they sit, talk, children play. It is surrounded by beautiful and historic buildings.

  • The square is very pretty and full of people. There are many places and things to visit. In the square near the Church, which you can recognize by the bows, you will find some paintings by local artists.

  • Muchas pokeparadas? :P También muchos portales de ingress.
  • Always something to do or see here. On Sundays it's extra busy when the square is filled with places to eat. Go there on a Thursday night (iirc) to see a cool recreation of the ancient Maya ball game.
  • Nice and calm plaza to unwind and cool down from the heat.
  • Muy bonita plaza.
  • First of all it's a very nice place. All the plants in the middle of crowed city Merida are beautiful. They offer at the place wifi for free. A perfect spot for taking a deep breath. Unfortunately there are a lot of cheaters at this place. Most of them speaks English very well. They look for tourists for catching them. The story's sounds very true and you can't verify it. The conversation starts always with a small talk. They try to give image of "i don't want anything from", "i want give you some good name from a citizen of very good places". At least don't believe to this guys. All of them are liars. Be careful and go inside the park only for taking a deep breath.
