Venture to Punta Cometa, a high, rocky cape with expansive views of the Pacific Ocean. Standing at the southernmost point of Oaxaca, this spot is renowned for its sunset view, so expect to see other tourists during that time of day. Trails among grassy shrubs and cacti line the cliffs' edge; these eventually lead you to adjacent beaches. While here, be on the lookout for migrating whales and flocks of pelicans. • There are many people but it is vast, we can prolonged on the rocks up to the tip but it is risky, or better to descend on the small beach on the right. It is very well indicated, still provide for closed shoes.

  • This was a great thing to do while in the area. We enjoyed the hike out and the ocean views along the way. The sunset was nice, but enjoyed the sunsets on Zipolite even more. It was extremely windy th...  more »
  • Definitely a place that you can't stop visiting. The hike is quite nice and the views from above and on the beach are worth much worth.

  • This place is a must when you visit Mazunte. I like taking the stairs that start at the main beach and climb up from there. It is a half an hour walk all the way to the top where you can enjoy one of the best sunsets you’ll ever experience. Try to get there about une hour before sunset so you can get a good spot. Take a tripod if you want to film a time lapse of the event and stay after the sun sets because the sky will still put on a show. Take a flashlight or make sure your phone has enough battery to walk back in the dark.
  • Beautiful views and sounds. It is definitely worth the hike, which was not too long. Bring a decent pair of shoes since it is very rocky and dangerous to walk too close to the edges. I highly recommend to make the stop. Bring a flashlight since it gets pitch black.
  • One of my favorite spots to visit. Go with running shoes or comfy shoes, don't wear flip flops. I suggest to start goin around 50 mins before sunset since it's a long walk and you can get there will the sun is out and get to see the sunset or the other way around the sun rise. There is a small beach there and a natural jacuzzi spot, secret and bonus to find ;) On busy holidays, it is crowded but if you get to be there with few people it's better.
  • What a great hike! Be sure to bring extra water. The hill to get out of here is a tough one. But the experience is well worth it! There's hardly anyone out here on the private beach, so you can enjoy it with your Adventure Partner. You'll get a panoramic view from east to west. I imagine if you were out there for sunrise & stay all day, you could see sunset by just looking the opposite direction! Enjoy your hike!
  • The sunset view is out of this world! This place is magical!
