El Faro Lighthouse, Mazatlan

(4.5/5 based on 420+ reviews on the web)
Casting its light for 48 nautical km (30 mi), El Faro Lighthouse represents one of the highest operating lighthouses in the world. Situated at 157 m (515 ft), visitors commonly hike to the top of the hill to admire the view across the ocean and surrounding mainland landscapes. Grab a refreshment from the top of the summit after your walk. The lighthouse was built in 1879 on landmass that was once an island of its own. Once the bulb is switched on, witness its strength--equivalent to the light of 600,000 candles. • We knew the place from the sea, we wanted to access by car and the way definitely not this fit, maybe with a 4 x 4. But from the sea we saw his majestuocidad, you must have a great view from the top. It is close to the pier, have locals that is risky climb on foot or scale it, unless you have a very good guide.

  • The views are exceptional and definitely worth a climb (vertical) 150 meters down the road that runs along the Hill. If you have some physical condition, you can upload in 20 or 30 minutes. Half raise by a breach, the second steps: 340 in total. It carries water and comfortable clothes, that you're going to sweat. If you can, avoid schedules where the Sun falls direct by this you complicate even more the walk. Highly recommended while occurred to someone just put a sewage treatment plant at the beginning of the journey.

  • The trail to the lighthouse begins with a rocky, dirt path. After that, there are 300+ concrete steps. Views along the way, and especially at the top, are fantastic. Take water and go during the coole...  more »

  • Excellent view of Mazatlan, was a good exercise but only lasts 20 minutes, it is not as high as you would expect nor is Mazatlan so you will have the best possibly view
  • Amazing view of the city, port and ocean . But I took by bike with me and I had to carry it 350 stairs . Must visit while in mazatlan
  • Great view and good workout!
  • A must-see when you go to Mazatlan. Excellent view of the city during the ascent and from the top. The ascent is not difficult, but the road is a little rough. It is advisable to go early since the Sun will make the more arduous ascent.

  • The site is geographically out-done. Not much awareness of the people that trash on the ground. The site is very nice, but you can find lot of dirt between the bushes.
