El Faro Lighthouse, Mazatlan
Categories: Lighthouses, Tourist Spots
Casting its light for 48 nautical km (30 mi), El Faro Lighthouse represents one of the highest operating lighthouses in the world. Situated at 157 m (515 ft), visitors commonly hike to the top of the hill to admire the view across the ocean and surrounding mainland landscapes. Grab a refreshment from the top of the summit after your walk. The lighthouse was built in 1879 on landmass that was once an island of its own. Once the bulb is switched on, witness its strength--equivalent to the light of 600,000 candles. It is approximately 1 hour of ascent and another downhill, upstairs there is a shop that sells water. Clothing comfortable and sunscreen is essential. If you want to know how to get do not ask the local viewpoint, because for them there is none, better question for the lighthouse.show original
Absolutely stunning. 20-30 minute walk to the top depending on how full/drunk/hungover/fit/etc. you are.
Very nice view from the top and a pretty decent hike. Definitely worth checking out.
