  • Crowded, disorganized, dirty, too many posts, buses leaving to the CDMX of bad quality. If they go to Malinalco not visit Chalma. If you want to go to the chalma ravine and it is not for religious reasons not worth.

  • .." Or going dancing at Chalma"it is a popular saying and comes precisely from this community. Go visit the Lord of Chalma is a rite very, very entrenched Mexican religious beliefs. They must buy his Crown of flowers and enjoy a michelada on the way down or back. Just as leverage to buy souvenirs. "The origins of Chalma are pre-Hispanic, surrounding existed caves in which was worshipped deities such as Oztoteotl and Tlazacotl, according to the legend that gave rise to the veneration of the Lord of Chalma, when the Augustinian missionaries on their way to destroy the idols, they found in the cavern an image of Christ with idols destroyed at his feet. The sanctuary of the Lord of Chalma is formed by the Church and convent built in the 17TH century, the temple is neoclassical and its altar is of painted wood and plateresque style." • SANCTUARY OF THE LORD OF CHALMA was founded in the 16TH century as religious authorities response to the acts of the indigenous people who worshipped Oxtoteotl (God of the cave) with human sacrifices. The current Temple was completed in 1683 on the initiative of fray Diego de Velázquez the end of the century XVI losfrailes Bartolomé de Jesús María and Juan of San Jose decided to found a convent of visit was to the pilgrims. Carlos III granted September 6, 1783 the title of Real convent and sanctuary of our Lord Jesus Christ and San Miguel de las Cuevas de Chalma have some sets of sculptures of Saints and religious paintings, probably from the 18TH century. Protruding the miraculous image of the Lord of Chalma, the sculpture of San Miguel Arcángel and a beautiful piece with the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The sanctuary welcomes pilgrims with the Gospel phrase: "come unto me, all you who are tired trabajadosy and I will give you rest". Inside and above all in the sacristy there are anonymous canvases of the passion of Christ, the Magdalena and Santa María Egipcíaca, the spiritual conquest, the emergence of the Lord of Chalma and their transfer. Is tradition that them pilgrims that van by first time to Chalma acquire a Crown of flowers and wearing it down dancing, until the sanctuary, where is delivery in the entrance of the sanctuary. In the way there are infinity of positions that sold sweet, bread, food, crafts, hats of palma, bags of Palm, baskets images religious. It is apparently the third sanctuary most visited. Then you can continue the journey to Malinalco
