Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres

The tropical paradise of Playa Norte occupies a scenic spot on an island once considered the sanctuary of Mayan goddess Ix Chel. Shaded by tall palm trees, the soft white sand provides enough space for playing sports or hosting a party, while the turquoise sea remains as calm as a lake. Snorkel or swim in the inviting shallow water, which teems with fish and other colorful marine creatures. Beach bars provide refreshments and rent out lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Several larger eateries along the water will give you access to changing facilities with any purchase of food and drink. • We spent most of our time here in the cabanas and got marvelous massages. The views are beautiful, the service is great, and you can't go wrong just hanging out.  more »
  • It is considered one of the best beaches in Mexico. Presents an extensive beach of white sand with Palm trees in the background, ideal for walks: the sea of warm and crystalline waters presents turquoise blue. There are a lot of tourist services for every budget

  • Beautiful beach, white sand, soft. Clean and the people there are very friendly. Massage right on the ocean available, for about $30 for an hour. Lots of restaurants, easy to get food and drinks, or b...  more »

  • The ocean is beautiful. When you look out over the water you can see a multitude of blues and greens that are breath taking. It can get a little crowded but go early to catch a wide open beach with the sun coming over the palm trees.
  • A beautiful beach but that's about it. A nice place to spend an hour or so before it gets boring. If you take the 40 pesos ferry (one-way) from Punto Sam it is definitely worth a visit!
  • This has to be one of the best beaches in the world. It was a bit crowded when we visited, but the beach has fine, white sand and the water stays shallow forever. Note to families with young children: you will encounter drunk college students, same-sex couples, and the occasional topless sun worshipper. If you go, be prepared to answer difficult questions!
  • Beautiful beach! You can walk several metres into the water and the water level only comes up to your waist. It is definitely a wonderful place to just lounge and indulge in the sunshine!
  • Beautiful layed back Beach and Island! Lots of fun with a rental Golf cart to go exploring.
