Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres

The tropical paradise of Playa Norte occupies a scenic spot on an island once considered the sanctuary of Mayan goddess Ix Chel. Shaded by tall palm trees, the soft white sand provides enough space for playing sports or hosting a party, while the turquoise sea remains as calm as a lake. Snorkel or swim in the inviting shallow water, which teems with fish and other colorful marine creatures. Beach bars provide refreshments and rent out lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Several larger eateries along the water will give you access to changing facilities with any purchase of food and drink. With our custom trip planner, Isla Mujeres attractions like Playa Norte can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

The beach is gorgeous, with restaurants and rent umbrellas and beach loungers. Pity that as they were breakfast was crowded and there was no umbrellas. The sand is white and the color of the water a beauty.

The ocean is beautiful. When you look out over the water you can see a multitude of blues and greens that are breath taking. It can get a little crowded but go early to catch a wide open beach with the sun coming over the palm trees.

A beautiful beach but that's about it. A nice place to spend an hour or so before it gets boring. If you take the 40 pesos ferry (one-way) from Punto Sam it is definitely worth a visit!

This has to be one of the best beaches in the world. It was a bit crowded when we visited, but the beach has fine, white sand and the water stays shallow forever. Note to families with young children: you will encounter drunk college students, same-sex couples, and the occasional topless sun worshipper. If you go, be prepared to answer difficult questions!

Beautiful beach! You can walk several metres into the water and the water level only comes up to your waist. It is definitely a wonderful place to just lounge and indulge in the sunshine!
