Playa Norte, Isla Mujeres
(4.7/5 based on 4,400+ reviews on the web)
The tropical paradise of Playa Norte occupies a scenic spot on an island once considered the sanctuary of Mayan goddess Ix Chel. Shaded by tall palm trees, the soft white sand provides enough space for playing sports or hosting a party, while the turquoise sea remains as calm as a lake. Snorkel or swim in the inviting shallow water, which teems with fish and other colorful marine creatures. Beach bars provide refreshments and rent out lounge chairs, umbrellas, and towels. Several larger eateries along the water will give you access to changing facilities with any purchase of food and drink. With our custom trip planner, Isla Mujeres attractions like Playa Norte can be center stage of your vacation plans, and you can find out about other attractions like it, unlike it, near it, and miles away.

  • The beach is beautiful! I would give it five stars of it weren't for all the vendors trying to sell you stuff. Fortunately, they weren't pushy at all and wound leave us alone if we said "no thank you....  more »
  • Definitely worth swimming here rather than playa centro. The ocean seemed a different colour and it was absolutely divine with a great beach/bar atmosphere. Even when it stormed it was fabulous!!
  • Great snorkeling, great laying out... azure waters. Don't bother with the overpriced beach chairs... grab a blanket and lay out. Beers and food very close by.

  • Incredibly clear and calm waters. Bars and restaurants by the water are cheap and delicious. They even watch your belongings as you go for a dip. Definitely take the fast ferry. Plus, it lands a lot closer to Norte. It's within walking distance. No need for a cart rental. Grab some coconut drinks when you come back. Finish it there and ask them to get the meat out for you.
  • Beautiful Beach at Isla Mujeres. The beach is located at the bottom of the island, after the markets, restaurants and the city center. The beach waters are clear, lots of movements if you're on the left side, I suggest you stay on the right side, more fishes, clearer water and less people. The two side are divided by a small wooden bridged which you can pass under it to get to either side, there's lots of fishes in the right side, great for taking pictures and just to relax, they have food and drinks all around the beach. Bring you're Gopro or Water Camera, you'll thank me. If you visit Isla Mujeres you should stop by Playa Norte, you won't regret it.
  • What can I say... You will really miss out if you don't visit this part of the island! My wife and I couldn't get enough of the beauty of this place!
  • Beautiful white sand beach with very calm waters. Great for little kids. Only a 9 min walk from Ferry Pier. There restaurants along the way with umbrellas and beach chairs for rent.
