  • We had the whole place to ourselves, fun to wonder around and explore the ruins. Very reasonable 20 peso entrance fee, plenty of iguana watching too!  more »
  • We drove by this spot every day during the week we were on the island and it was never open. It looks to be abandoned in the entry. Sad to see this piece of history disappear.  more »
  • Hcienda Mundaca is in very poor condition. The grounds have not been kept up and there really wasn't much to see here. We were hoping for some facts and information about the Hacienda and the Pirate M...  more »

  • Cool place to visit. If you believe the legend it is extra interesting. I definitely do not regret going but I probably would not go back. It is kind off run down and has a bit of a spooky vibe to it. We were the only ones in the park so I would not say it's crowded.
  • Nineteenth century historic site associated with a romantic legend about a pirate and unrequited love. Not sure the legend is accurate. Some people believe the so-called pirate was actually in the Cuban slave trade. At the hacienda the main attractions are a two story stone house, scattered ruins, stone work from the gardens, and a reconstructed pole framework Mayan house. Some interesting historic photographs are inside the stone house. Be careful of the rickety floor planks and a broken hand rail on the wood stairs when accessing the second floor from the outside. In addition there is a small Mayan archaeological site at Hacienda Mundaca. Overall the Hacienda Mundaca park needs more maintenance. A site map and more interpretive signage would be useful too.
  • It's cheap to get in, but it's very rundown and there's not a lot to look at. Everything was in Spanish so if you don't know the language it will be hard for you to understand any descriptions. There are many other things you should do or see on Isla Mujeres before coming here.
  • Only 20 pesos per person to get in but it is sadly run down. The house itself is interesting to see with some historical photos on the walls but the stairs to the second story are rickety at best and the wood floor up there was even worse. More information on the history of the place would be a welcome addition. For the price it is worth a quick stop when doing a golf cart tour of the island.
  • Nice walk, great pictures in the building. Do it every year.
