  • Very interesting Zapotec ruins and artifacts. The jaded skull found here was absolutely fascinating. I felt we got so much more out of this due to our guide as opposed to doing it on our own.  more »

  • Went with a tour guide through the site. Everardo was his name. Super informative, witty and very friendly. We had a small group of 6 people so it was nice and intimate. Gorgeous location and the sites are very close to the walking path so it makes it very easy to see everything. Also our guide brought us some cervesas! Which is always nice.
  • Wonderful park. Excellent for observing wildlife and ancient remains. An exhilarating walk, with plenty of shade, even in the middle of the day. Spectacular viewpoints over the coastline. Very good, modern museum. Cafe closed when we visited. Go to Bocana Bay afterwards for first rate beach and good cafes.
  • A great park with archeological sites and a museum that show you the history of the area and it's indigenous people, as well as some beautiful views of the coastline and of the native wildlife. Highly recommended if you are interested in nature or history.
  • Well worth going to see. It isn't widely advertised but isn't far from Santa Cruz and is the best archeological site in Huatulco.
  • This is museum park around Archeological digs in the area, highlighting the indigenous people of this region (Mixtec & Zapotec). Temples, town & ball court are some of the digs that can be seen. There's also the spectacular views of the meeting between river and ocean. Highly recommended.

Where to stay in Huatulco

The planned resort region offers a large selection of accommodations at surprisingly budget-friendly prices. Stay near Marina Chahue for the best access to boat tours, Santa Cruz Huatulco for proximity to the nearby national park, or the main township of Crucecita to be surrounded by the most convenient amenities. For something a bit quieter and more focused on the beach, look slightly north to Tangolunda.
