Prismas Basalticos, Huasca de Ocampo

(4.5/5 based on 500+ reviews on the web)
See an unusual geological formation at Prismas Basalticos, a set of tall basalt columns through which a stream of water runs. Located in a scenic ravine, the cluster of thin, matchstick-like columns owes its striking form to the slow cooling of volcanic lava. First championed by German explorer and intellectual Alexander von Humboldt, the natural attraction today benefits from the addition of stairs, walkways, and bridges, making it easy to get up close. • If you're going to Hidalgo and especially Huasca, don't visit the basaltic prisms. Go with comfortable shoes and consider that perhaps you can slip if you don't walk with care. It has very good views.

  • Left me thoroughly impressed to see the place, is beautiful to see the waterfalls of basalt and the depth of the same, that if, have to walk a little, so you have to wear clothes and comfortable shoes.

  • Although trade is excessive and is missing many museography, prisms left me shocked... it is worth find out about them before you go because they do not give any brochure and there is only 1 sheet with little information about them.

  • Excelente lugar!
  • Interesting place but very crowded
  • Impressive basaltic rock formations and a nice walk around it. The suspension bridge above the falls offer a great view. After enjoying the view I recommend to take the 15min walk down to Santa Maria Regla.
  • Fantastic place to expend the day with the family. See, do and eat
