  • So you will probably come here out of curiosity more than anything. Some points: As another reviewer pointed out, they are not mummies. The queue was really long to get in (about 30 minutes). There ar...  more »

  • Incredible exibit of mummies here. Information in both English and Spanish. Expect a two hour line to get in the door. Once inside it isn't too crowded. Definitely worth visiting if you're in Guanajuato. The history a diversity of stories is very interesting.
  • The mummy museum is a must if you're in Guanajuato. That being said, the line tends to get pretty long on the weekends so if you do not want to wait then go early in the morning. The ticket price is between $2.50-$3.00 American. Inside you get to watch a short film and are brought in in groups of 20-30 with a guide. It's all in Spanish but each mummy has a story and a display card that has the English version on it. It is way cool to see and find out some history on the mummies and how they got mummified!
  • The history of how the mummies have been found to the history of each corpse is very interesting. There is a tour guide who will walk you through each section and explain things to you. Also the tour is maybe 20 minutes long. Once the tour is complete, there are small stores outside to buy gifts and crafts. Excellent experience!
  • The museum offers a free guide to take you through the different rooms. The mummies are presented more as attractions rather than artefacts or as people with a history. There are mummies of all ages including babies and a foetus which some people may find a little disturbing. Note you technically have to pay to take photos but once inside everyone ignores this
  • It's an interesting thing to see at least once in your life. The mummified remains of people who couldn't afford to stay burried.
