Monumento al Pipila, Guanajuato
(4.5/5 based on 1,100+ reviews on the web)
Pay homage to a local hero at Monumento al Pipila, a statue honoring a young miner who distinguished himself during the Mexican War of Independence. The statue overlooks the city from one of the best vantage points you can find, so be sure to bring along a camera. The walk up to the monument may be too challenging for families with young kids and the elderly, who can take a taxi as an alternative. Near the monument, you'll find a gift shop and a bar with an equally spectacular view. • The view offered by the monument to pipila towards the city of Guanajuato is one of the best I've seen in Mexico, since you can see all the greatness culture that this beautiful city has to offer. The monument is well maintained, only that there are many street vendors surroundings and become opaque "typical photo". What is needed is well indicate the path to the monument since being my first time, I followed google maps, and sent me an ugly and dangerous street fortunately us nothing happened.

  • You raise by a comfortable cable car that takes you to the Summit of the mountain to see this monumental statue of el Pípila and a wonderful view of the city of Guanajuato. As well as to buy handicrafts in the region.

  • Easy, quick hike from Jardin de la Union. The statue has historic significance- an independence hero, but the must-see is the spectacular view! Guanajuato is marvelous from up there. If you don't feel like walking up, there is a funicular "train" that you can take for 50 pesos. To get to the station for this, walk a bit down the street on the side of Teatro Juarez, past the jewelry vendors. There will also be lots of vendors at the top if you are looking for cheap souvenirs.
  • You got to visit this statue if you visit Guanajuato. The statue itself is fairly impressive but the real reason to come up is the views of the city. As photos hopefully demonstrate they are fantastic. It gives you great view of how the city is played out and just how colourful Guanajuato is. Check it out!
  • If you want to view the city and appreciate its historical buildings and churches, this is definitely the place to go. It offers a panoramic view of the whole city. It's a great place to take photos!
  • Buena vista, bonito monumento.
  • Incredible views over the city and by the way nice workout:)
