  • The village is quiet, small, little offer hotel but adequate for the number of people attending it; It is important to be especially careful with the "boutique" hotels, since in the majority of cases are rather rustic or modest hotels that do not have the equipment, furniture, white and of a true boutique hotel amenities; the places to eat are very simple, nothing sophisticated; What if it's worth by different, is to know the ruins that were mining haciendas, the spaces are well preserved and clean, although in its ruinous State; It is suggested to be accompanied by a guide to learn about the history of these mines.

  • This is a magic place... even though it has been promoted as a touristic place, this town preserves something that shows you a little, about how was the life there 100 years ago. Completely safe to walk between one mine. Great places to eat like "Fame" just in the main street or the "posada mines" boutique hotel; I visit this place for second time September 2th, but it was cloudy... you should take a hat and sunblock, just in case, because you probably will be walking a lot. This is a place where you should bring money in cash. Enjoy it! East is a town magical from 2012, but I had already visited it earlier in 2009... I must say that you have changed many things, but not everything for good. There, in full development, a neighborhood with modern houses of 3 floors in the area where the most are the ruins of mines... for my taste this does not combine, jumps, doesn't fit or is inconsistent with what you're about to visit walking the helmets of the estates to (now managed by ejidatarios) bandonadas that are around the Central magnificent... Well regardless of this, Wells as I knew it was a place where the "time stopped" at the end of the road of Dr. Mora... the asphalt ends and begins the pavement... original facades, desquebrajados pigeon breasts and long adobe... ideal for walk across the street, watching the little shops of old cupboards with stones, antique pots selling or buying a nieva or some Grenache as pork rinds and corn... Today already have many tour guides in ATV service, more places to buy food or drink; more boutique hotels, boast an installation called "model school" where there are workshops and exhibitions, the building has details from the mining era and this very well attended. Hence upwards you will find one of the mines more large (although not the most representative) that is 5 mine Lords. I also visited the mine the triangle where the owners were some French and fractionation that I mentioned above will be.

  • We very much enjoyed our two day (one night) visit to Pozos. Went on a Wednesday and only about half of the attractions were open (more on weekends, we believe), but liked the solitude and lack of cro...  more »

Where to stay in Guanajuato

Among the narrow streets and colorful buildings of the World Heritage-listed city center, you'll find a selection of tasteful boutique hotels. The streets around Jardin de la Union and Universidad de Guanajuato offer some of best the best choices and proximity to historical attractions. There's plenty on offer for budget travelers, too, with a range of hostels and small guesthouses at very reasonable prices. You can find some even more affordable options south of the center, around Cerro de los Leones.
