Museo Casa Diego Rivera, Guanajuato

4.3
#1 of 7 in Historic Sites in Guanajuato
Learn about the life of one of the country's most treasured artists and thinkers at Museo Casa Diego Rivera, set within the painter's family home. Born with a twin brother in 1886, Rivera lived in this house for the first six years of his life, before his family relocated to Mexico City. The ground floor has been made to look as it did when the Rivera family lived here, while upper floors contain permanent collections of the artist's work, including preliminary sketches. A collection of photos of Rivera with his wife, painter Frida Kahlo, offer a particularly candid exploration of the life of the artist. • The House is very nice and some very good works, that we invite you to learn more in depth to the artist.

  • One of the "must do" activities in town , partly because there really isn't much else available. don't expect to see very much of Rivera's art--there isn't any. But the house is interesting by itself  more »
  • As ordering the exhibitions, as well as the way in which the House have set for me is the Museum that can not miss on Guanajuato

  • This museum is very interesting since it was the house of Diego Rivera until the age of 6. In this museum you can appreciate pieces of art from Diego Rivera that are not very popular such as art in which he explored with cubism, portraits, landscapes, and prints. You can appreciate pieces of art that were from his formative years. There is also exhibitions from other artists.
  • Tiny museum with only a few of Diego’s work. Worth a visit if you’re in town, but don’t expect much.
  • Totally worth the price as you get an overall view into the childhood of this amazing painter and an overall education of his upbringing and young influences
  • Overall it was a beautiful display of art, however I was hoping for more history of the home and Diego. But definitely recommend it. The roof top is a beautiful place to relax and see all of Guanajuato.
  • I love this place!!! I have been twice now and each time is Amazing♥️♥️♥️ I took my Mom & brother they also enjoyed this place. Expect to b here for 1-3 hours

There's plenty on offer for budget travelers, too, with a range of hostels and small guesthouses at very reasonable prices.
