Monumento al Pipila, Guanajuato

4.4
Pay homage to a local hero at Monumento al Pipila, a statue honoring a young miner who distinguished himself during the Mexican War of Independence. The statue overlooks the city from one of the best vantage points you can find, so be sure to bring along a camera. The walk up to the monument may be too challenging for families with young kids and the elderly, who can take a taxi as an alternative. Near the monument, you'll find a gift shop and a bar with an equally spectacular view. • Amazing views. When you first arrive in Guanajuato, you should make your way to the Pipila viewpoint. Not only is the hike up Calvarios invigorating, it is way rewarding. From the narrow streets below...  more »

  • Many will tell you that it is not worth upload it, but if or if you should do this. I recommend do it walking to describe beautiful corners and some that another good photo. At the top you will have to have patience to wait for the turn in the best places to take the typical photo of Guanajuato. There are places to eat something, only between one which has an excellent view and take me a few beers, by the way get more beautiful photos without so many people.

  • We took the funicular up to this location. Fascinating statue situated at the top of one of the highest peaks directly bordering Guanajuato. Take in the view of the city that shows off the varied architecture and stunning colors. Descend via the pathway through narrowly spaced homes leading back down to the city center.
  • It's completely free of charge (if you paid someone that wasn't an official tour guide then you were scammed). There's parking a little further back before getting to the monument and there will be several street vendors with all kinds of foods and goods all the way down to where the monument is. I got there around noon so it was a little crowded but the view is amazing, you must go here to see the city in its entirety!
  • Gotta go here! I walked up to the statue (step entrance is across from GNC). Very cool walk and plenty to see and photo opts for sure! Of course, when you get there...the VIEW!
  • The momument is under repair, no access and no possibility of a good picture of the statue as a result. Panoramic view was awesome though.
  • It doesn't matter if you take funicular to here or go on foot, when you get there you can see a fantastic view of the city both at daylight and night. The best time to visit in my opinion is at sundown. Afterward walk down to city center and enjoy beautiful and colorful alleys.
