Alley of the Kiss (Callejon del Beso), Guanajuato

3.9
Whether you're traveling as a couple of not, the romantic atmosphere of Alley of the Kiss (Callejon del Beso) shouldn’t be lost on anyone. The site of a classically tragic tale of unrequited love and death, this narrow, terracotta-lined alley has become a mecca for lovers, where two balconies meet so closely in the alley that you can kiss across them. Be sure to research the mythic story of the alley before you visit, and if traveling as a couple, ask a passerby to take a snap of you and your lover locking lips in the fabled spot. • This alleyway is quaint, but is certainly not unusual in the historical centre of Guanajuato. If you visit to satisfy your curiosity and kiss your sweetheart on the third step, just be aware that ther...  more »
  • In the main Park estudiantinas that coordinate and liven up the callejoneadas, it is a super fun activity. In the end lead to the alley of the kiss. If you visit Guanajuato, have to live the experience, to my I loved the excitement, joy and humor of the estudiantina music to accompany you. It is a journey that you must do with clothing and comfortable shoes because if you have to walk a considerable distance, but that or feel for the atmosphere that is created.

  • Of course we HAD to kiss on the third step!!! Interesting, heart touching legend. This was just a fun thing to do. The callejon (alley) is quite picturesque as well - good photo op!  more »

  • It's cute and romantic. A must stop when you're visiting this beautiful city. It gets crowded and the alley way is extremely narrow but totally worth it! We didn't get lured into the house and up to the balcony but I'm sure its enjoyable. Theres an iron window gate where people put their "love locks", so if you don't have one, you can purchase it from a vendor there. Don't forget to get your photo op on the 3rd step with your SO! :)
  • A regular alley turned into a touristic hangout over a colonial legend. Only a must if you're into the cheesiest side of romance.
  • This single alley, whatever - but arriving here, with my wife, as part of a "Callejonada" - priceless. Walked and sang and laughed with the "Estudiantinas" and the other tourists. HIGHLY reccomend that you go with your significant other. Wear comfortable shoes, bring something to drink.
  • This is the TOP & most popular place to visit at Guanajuato. You must have to bring your girl into this place & kiss her. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED!!!
  • Very romantic story about the alley, watch out with the street vendors, they will push you heavily to make you buy something from them.
