  • The Arcos de Guadalajara, a beautiful picture of the city, when you're in your car and pass by this place you see at the bottom of the Minerva roundabout. The arches currently function as offices of tourism of Guadalajara with countless number of stairs and a beautiful view of the city from its windows. I got information from the Internet to learn more about the history of these beautiful arches of our Guadalajara. The Arcos de Guadalajara are a representative monument of the city of Guadalajara, in the State of Jalisco, Mexico. Said monument was erected as input of the city as a result of the opening of the road Mexico-Morelia-Guadalajara, in the year of 1938. The work is carried out during the period of the Governor Silvano Barba González, who commissioned the project to the architect Aurelio Aceves. The arches were built by the architect Aurelio Aceves in 1942 at the express request of the Government headed by Silvano Barba González to celebrate the 400 years of the founding of the city. In those days the place where the monument is located was plain and deemed that it was going to be the entrance to the city. For this reason, in the side East of the monument reads the phrase: «a pleasant stay is a guarantee of return» and in the West, «Guadalajara, city hospital». Architect Aceves made the design based on the typical European arches; However added in the decoration end tiles handmade representative of Tlaquepaque. In addition, in the middle of each arch was recorded the coat of arms of the city. In 1959 the flags room, where respect is rendered to the patriotic explanatory of the different countries of the American continent was installed at the top. In addition, used as a viewpoint, since it provided an excellent view of the city. In 1981, given its importance, the Hall of flags was closed and settled in the place the Secretary of tourism of the State of Jalisco, and stays there until today. HAPPY STAY!
