The facility is located in the city of Guadalajara, Jalisco, 400 kilometers north-west of Mexico City, and has a maximum capacity of 53,985 spectators.HistoryEstadio Jalisco was the home ground of Guadalajara, one of the oldest football teams in Mexico, until 2010. It remains the home stadium of Club Atlas in the Liga MX and Club Universidad de Guadalajara in the Ascenso MX. Several football preliminary matches took place for the 1968 Summer Olympics. The stadium has hosted the FIFA World Cup tournaments: (1970) and (1986).During both of those tourneys the Estadio Jalisco was the temporary home of the Brazilian national team and today remains a liaison between the people of Guadalajara and the Brazilian national team. The stadium is centrally located in the heart of the neighbourhood called Colonia Independencia, and is in front of the Plaza de Toros Nuevo Progreso ("New Progress" Bullring).

  • This is The Stadium in town. Yes, yes, yes, there is the modern and amazing Omnilife Stadium (soon to be Akron Stadium), but, The Jalisco Stadium came first. From local football soccer games, to Worl ...  more »
  • The stadium is not very big, but it's very well maintained and cared for. Very clean! The talk that was Brazilian, the treatment was with reverence. We were able to visit the bleachers. In front of the stadium is Brazil's square, which has a monument in tribute to the tri Football League (1970).

  • Go to the Jalisco is going to remember the old battles of the Atlas with the America, Chivas, Pumas and Cruz Azul... The bad thing is that it is an old stadium without the amenities of modern stadiums and frankly surprised that up to of Puebla already have been remodeled and this stadium does not.

  • Historic stadium in Jalisco. Always nice to be there when leones negros play
  • The most important soccer stadium at Jalisco and the third biggest in Mexico. Opened in 1960 has hosted 1970 and 1986 world cups. It's home of Leones Negros and Atlas, that play at MX league. Can be 53,983 spectators with maximum capacity. Long time ago had been home of Club Guadalajara, one of most popular teams in Mexico and US.
  • Great place to enjoy a soccer game. Incredible atmosphere where all family can get enough fun supporting the local teams or visitors.
  • Strong Fan support ! Goos beer !
  • Great experience. Atmosphere was family friendly

Where to stay in Guadalajara

If you want proximity to historical attractions and convenient access to public transport, you'll be able to find something to suit any budget downtown, with the central thoroughfare of Avenida Juarez offering perhaps the widest range of options. Slightly southwest of the center, the neighborhood of Ciudad del Sol also offers a good selection of budget-friendly options, while in the southeast, Tlaquepaque--formerly a city in its own right--features some fancier hotels in a more relaxed setting.
