Observe the spectacular natural phenomenon of a blowhole at La Bufadora, as water shoots up to 30 m (100 ft) into the air. Caused by ocean water becoming trapped and then expelled from a marine cave at the bottom of the cliff, the a rare geological feature stands out as one of the largest blowholes in North America. Peruse the multitude of street stalls in the area, selling an array of trinkets, and consider timing your visit with high tide, as that's when the spout offers its most spectacular performances. Don’t forget to bringe change for the restrooms. Add La Bufadora and other attractions to your Ensenada trip itinerary using our Ensenada itinerary planner.

After a short ride into town from our cruise ship, we somehow got roped into a ride out to Bufadora (hard for 8 women to make one decision). Sure, it was only $15, but it took half the time we had on ... read more »

I visited the attraction with a group of students years ago and found it interesting and worthy of my time 20 minutes. Upon returning this time, my wife and I found a very long portion of the road approaching the water spout is now lined with typical tour goods for sale. It caused us concerned about the long walk back up the sloped road for my wife who hurt her leg the day before. Also, much of the best viewing area was crowded with people who did not move for others to see the water spot well at all. Free parking is limited or you pay $2 on dirt lots controlled by locals. It is a long drive from downtown Ensenada and worth considering if you or group would enjoy seeing a natural water feature which simply repeats a spout of water. If shopping for tourists goods with a natural water feature depended on tides at the end of the road is worthy of your time, then this would of interest to you.
While La Bufadora itself isn't 5 stars, the journey to get there make this a must stop visit. You drive along the Baja Coast and if driving the appropriate automobile and no with policía around, you can drive off the beaten path and take in some great scenic views and photos. Once you arrive, it's recommended to park at the beginning of the road. While it's not an official parking lot, locals attend and manage the area and charge you the same amount as you'd pay further in. This way you enjoy the long walk to La Bufadora the the street market full of typical touristy wares and a lot of hidden local gems. La Bufadora is not so impressive, but a fun treat for the locals and as a tourist destination not so far from Ensenada.
Best hidden jewel in all of baja. Good for san diego ppl to goto when you are bored of san diego.
great place folks, if you are looking for a really nice place and great view of pacific ocean, stop by, is free, is like a produce or traditional old mexican market, a lot of succulent mexican food and snacks, not expensive, parking lot for the whole day 2 dlls, yes just 2 dlls, a huge pizza slice 2 dlls full of flavor, home made, traditional mexican candies, they are made them in front of you, crafts, as you walk you will fell in love with all they sell, and they accept dollar and some of them speak english, mexican police on site, taking care of everything, from tijuana 2 or 3 hours, from tecate same 2 or 3 hours just go straight to ensenada, passing ensenada going south you will find the place, and a lot of empty houses for rent or for sell, guys you must go and take a look by yourself
Great touristic spot to see an interesting misting of the ocean as the result of years of a craves rock formation. There are many stalls along the way that make for an interesting evening walk.
