  • I chose the Tolantongo grottos as a destination for my honeymoon with my Haitian spouse. We had the possibility to visit the destination of the world that we would like to in the Caribbean, North America, Central and South, Europe, Africa and Asia; but for my taste, Tolantongo is the most heavenly destination known around the world (on my profile can see that I have visited almost all the continents) the warm water not always you can see in the photos, but this warm water is the maximum pleasure from the grotto, waterfall, River and pools. Many years ago to spend the night at Tolantongo ejidatarios who administer their lands only could offer a flat surface where to anchor the tent. These members sent their children to school and then to College. The children of the ejidatarios studied Civil Engineering and hydraulic engineering, thus designed a tourism development of several hotels and services of Spa, that her parents did not dare even to dream. I hope that grandchildren and great-grandchildren of the ejidatarios study tourism, administration, Informatics and marketing to improve the quality of service, communication, systems of reservations, payments and customer service; that it can be improved. My spouse was highly impressed with the experience and it is now difficult to impress him more with other destinations, hehehehe. Without a doubt, the Riviera Maya is beautiful, but my spouse is from Haiti and it would have been hard to impress with these wonderful beaches so similar in all the Caribbean. At Tolantongo, in addition to the thermal waters, we enjoy pulque freshly prepared by the Otomí of the region and ate barbecue pit; in Ixmiquilpan we visited the parish of San Miguel Arcangel and Otomí; murals in the magical village of Huichapan, you can visit the cave paintings in the archaeological site of Tula the impressive Atlanteans, vestiges of Toltec culture with thousand years old, conquering of the Mayans, inspiring the beautiful art of Puc are so proud in Yucatan. Nature, gastronomy, art and culture, administered by the Otomí and their descendants Tolantongo has it all!! Therefore, Tolantongo is in my opinion, the most heavenly destination around the world.

  • Grutas de Tolantongo is a mountain valley with a hot spring cave inside a cave. The hot spring runs through the valley as a river, and there are some other attractions too like hot tubs and zip wire. ...  more »

  • It is a very, very nice place to relax and chill,on the rustic side, the downside is the location, which is far, very far away from any major city. But the journey is a total experience. If you can deal with the extreme road, the views are totally surreal, if you suffer from vertigo, you'll get dizzi for sure! The people who work there are as nice as can be expected, prices of food, drinks and souvenirs are fair, considering the remote location. If you wanna get a better experience you have to spend more money, but nothing excessive. The pouches they sell that are supposed to be waterproof to protect the cell phones, are a total failure, 3 phones are ruined because those crappy pouches! So dont buy them, is a complete waste of money, overall is a diferent experience that you'll enjoy if you like to soak and relax you senses!
  • A very good place to get away and enjoy a weeked. I recently went there and I must say I fell in love with the place. The thermal waters were amazing, and one really does get to connect with nature. I recommend camping over staying in one of the three hotels there, since you really get to have a better experience around a camp fire. I look forward to going back soon.
  • Very beautiful. Thermal water very warm. If you visit the Grutas (cave) take a waterproof flashlight so you can explore the cave. You can get one in the gift shop .
  • It was just incredible, very kind and friendly people and amazing views
