Inspirock Rating:
4.7/5 based on 2,400+ reviews on the web
Home to a riotous array of tropical ocean life, Palancar Reef stands as one of the world's most renowned locations for underwater exploration. Consisting of four different coral clusters, the reef lies approximately 1 km (0.6 mi) from shore, and teems with turtles, sharks, eels, and an array of multi-colored fish. You can join a snorkeling excursion from the island in order to explore the reef's shallower stretches, while scuba divers can range to depths of up to 34 m (110 ft) and even swim through massive coral arches in some places. Either way, you'll have a great view of the reef thanks to the surrounding water's visibility of 70 m (230 ft)--among the farthest on the planet.
