Discover the natural and social history of the island at Museo de la Isla de Cozumel. A must-stop for first-time visitors of the island, this small museum occupies the adapted colonial-style building complete with a grand staircase that used to be a hotel back in the 1930s. Most of the exhibits are featured in four main rooms. The highlights of the ground floor are a large colorful diorama of underwater life and a replica of a Mayan house behind the grand staircase. Do not miss the "Pirates of the Caribbean" section on the second floor. • Very interesting and much bigger than it looks. Animations and 3d type video. We enjoyed it.
  • Every thing was good. Quick service. Just wished they had regular cocktail sauce. I didn't like their in house cocktail sauce.
  • Fantastic little museum. All you need to know about the island, the history and geology of it, and about the Mayan past. Well organised and in good spot. Fabulous view over the expanse of the sea, if you decide to stay over a lunch or dinner by the restaurant next to the exhibition halls. If you want to know about Cozumel, it´s absolutely worth a one-hour visit. Around 80 pesos entrance for foreigners.
  • An excellent brief history of the Island of cozumel is explained in several different rooms and is non biased explaining the native history as well as colonial history. also some great ecological information on the flora and fauna of the Island as well as it geography/geology. well done and worth a visit if you want an hour or two out of the sun and off the beach.
  • What a great museum!
