Cenotes Tamcach-Ha & Choo-Ha, Coba

(4.7/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Dive into the crystal blue waters of Cenotes Tamcach-Ha & Choo-Ha. Stalagmites decorate the cave walls of this natural underground swimming pool, twinkling in reflections from the water below. Once thought by the Maya people as gateways to the underworld, these caves make a memorable place to swim and snorkel, with a shallower cenote creating a perfect place for little ones to play. The rock formations in the larger cenote even provide you with diving boards of 5 m (16.4 ft) and 10 m (32.8 ft). The local community have maintained and protected the area; before you enter, use the showers to wash off any man-made chemicals so as not to contaminate this delicately balanced environment. Keep cash handy for the entrance fee. Cenotes Tamcach-Ha & Choo-Ha is just one of the many highlights you can arrange to see using our online itinerary creator, Coba Edition.

  • I highly recommend these cenotes as they are much quieter and private than near Chichen Itza or Tulum.
  • We have been to the 3 cenotes located close to Coba. You have to know that it is necessary to have a car to go there (or if you want to pay a taxi... it's your choice!) So we went there at like 11am. ...  more »
  • We stopped here after a day of touring Tulum & Coba and it was just amazing. The entrance is quite underwhelming, going down there is almost scary and then you are just underground and there's water! ...  more »
