Chapala Malecon, Chapala
(4.4/5 based on 240+ reviews on the web)
Stroll along Chapala Malecon for a cultural and lively atmosphere accompanied by picturesque lakeside views. Manicured gardens, palm trees, fountains, and various artistic monuments line the pathway. Small colorful boats fill the harbor while fishermen sit on the piers' edge. Watch for local vendors selling candy, dried fruit, and handcrafted items. You can grab a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants, which typically involves some freshly caught fish and a free local beverage of tequila or wine. The promenade is especially pretty as the sun sets over the distant mountain skyline. • It really is a nice place to stroll along the lake. There are very close by spots to stop and have lunch, and there are activities regularly scheduled in the area. You may find yourself wandering in a...  more »
  • Very busy on weekends and full of the typical garbage trinkets that no one needs for sale. On the weekend there is almost no parking ever. During the week it's quiet enough to actually enjoy the place...  more »
  • Just nice to stroll along the malecon, check out the various booths and talk with them. Have a glass of tequila and enjoy life.

  • I have been to lake Chapala 4x's now ocer 3yrs, and the Malecón at least once during each visit. I have been during the week and on the weekend. While it will be very busy on the weekend, I recommend it, it is just a lot more eventful on the weekend and twice the shops are open on the weekend as are own in the middle of the week. On the weekend there are many bands many of whom are very good that set up and play, there is a fantastic spray paint artist on th weekend as well. There are a lot of kind of thumbs to eat, many people have great candies or roasted corn and lots of sorbets. There are tons of actual restuarants in the general area as well. People selling stuff on the side of the road, and kids running everywhere, in the best way. An amazing view of the lake and a nice little boardwalk going on to the lake, it is a very beautiful place. Here's a tip, when you park, pay the guys to wash your car, it's worth it because they also keep an eye on your car to mashed sure they get paid. This means you're far less likely to get your car broken into. I've never had a problem, and all the car washers are nice and do a great job. I love the Melecón in Chapala, and it is a touristy area, sure, but it is a very fun one with some fun food and fun items to buy. God Bless ~Amy
  • Beautiful. Must see while visiting Jalisco. It's just two hours away from Guadalajara.
  • The place is nice but, I consider that it can be better.
  • One of my favorite places to go to. I love watching the hot girls pass by as they exercise. Also, the view is amazing. The only down side is the "banda" musicians, making terrible noise here and there...
  • A beautiful calm place for all members of the family. The lake is really quiet and the landscapes astonishing
