Chapala Malecon, Chapala

4.4
Stroll along Chapala Malecon for a cultural and lively atmosphere accompanied by picturesque lakeside views. Manicured gardens, palm trees, fountains, and various artistic monuments line the pathway. Small colorful boats fill the harbor while fishermen sit on the piers' edge. Watch for local vendors selling candy, dried fruit, and handcrafted items. You can grab a bite to eat at one of the nearby restaurants, which typically involves some freshly caught fish and a free local beverage of tequila or wine. The promenade is especially pretty as the sun sets over the distant mountain skyline. Put Chapala Malecon at the forefront of your travel plans using our Chapala online day trip planner .

  • Nice walk on the Malecon. Beautiful day and plenty of locals celebrating January 7th and the three kings.  more »
  • We came here on a Sunday afternoon and enjoyed the malecon and tiangis. The lakeshore and malecon are looking much much better these days. Today it was very busy with many people enjoying the area.  more »
  • Lake Chapala is simply stunning, not for nothing is the largest of all Mexico. The local fauna is beautiful, you can see pelicans, seagulls, herons or ducks on the Lake. Local crafts and food on the malecon are slightly elevated cost, but equally there is no great novelty.

  • Loved it. Very nice. It's a bit touristy but still lovely. I can highly recommend The Peacock restaurant. Great Atmosphere but also very delicious food
  • Chapala is beautiful. At the beach you can see a variety of waterfowls. You can buy ice cream every 10 meters, for example elote-ice cream. You can take an boat tour. For kids there is a fairy with ponies and so on. There are quite a lot of restaurants, take a look around before you decide where to eat.
  • There are BEAUTIFUL scenic views of the lake, LOTS of shops along the pier( make sure you see everything before you decide where to buy), negotiate before you pay a d enjoy great food in the plaza a block or two on the main street into the lake.
  • We got to experience the carnival, a whole lot of shore birds, and a lovely quiet lunch at Don Juan. All in all, a very enjoyable experience, with a lot of varies things for anyone to do.
  • Very touristy but worth a visit. There are lots of restaurants and people selling all kinds of tourist trinkets. No swimming in the lake.
