Wander around the modern Museo Maya de Cancun to absorb artifacts and displays relating to the Mayan culture. The museum makes a great place to begin if you’re planning to take excursions to some of the larger, better-known sites in the region. You’ll gain a broad overview of the Maya people, as well as the opportunity to purchase relevant books on the Maya and their culture. After examining the exhibits, be sure to visit the small but impressive ruins located in the gardens. Travelled from Cozumel to see this museum. Longish journey for two crumbly women, but so worth the effort. We went by bus from Playa del Carmen to Cancun, then taxi. It's a very long ride from bus sta... read more »
Generally very good museum about Maya civilization. Admission price was reasonable and there were free lockers for backpacks, etc. which are not permitted inside museum. I would have rated the museum ... read more »

Some few pieces in the museum but very representatives of the Mayan culture. The pieces were collected from different Mayan sites Tulum, Palenque, Chichen Itza, etc. Please more conservation work for the site.
Very nice! I love the ruins and how much info there is, though there could be more signs in English. Instead there is 90% signs in English. I would recommend anyone to go there, as it is within the hotel zone.
Went on a rainy day and I'm glad we did. Lots of things to look at. Good way to send 1-2 Hours.
Really nice little ruin and museum. Clean and we'll put together setup.
This is a nice small museum. It is interesting because all the galleries are in a building held about 40 feet up by concrete piers. It has a good set of artifacts, explanations in each gallery are in Spanish and English, but the artifact descriptions were Spanish only. I think they mostly said where they were from and maybe when. Anyway, I learned some about history of the Maya and others that lived in Yucatan. I also enjoyed the temporary exhibit Don't miss the ruins. Since they are adding on to the museum or something the path out to them was not obvious. Even on a hot summer day, most of this was in the mangrove forest and was not hot in the shade. Worth a stop if you are in Cancun, and cheap, you don't have to go to Tulum or further to see Mayan ruins. These were huge in size or number, but still worth the stop and small admission fee. There are a few more basically across the street if you go to El Rey.
