  • We just go to market 28, with some doubts, because some were recommending it and others do not. Now I can say for myself that this place is HORRIBLE! It is full of little or no value fiddling and charge you as if you bought at Bulgari. I bought a bag of HED to a granddaughter, charged me $187, to go out there and walk 20 steps the same bag was $120. I wanted to buy a handicraft but prices were huge, I bought out at logical prices. Also put you back an employee who does not let you to Sun or shade, every thing you stand to look at want it you get in the eyes. A recommendation? MERCADO 28 AVOID IT!

  • See, negociate, buy! They are a little suffocating with their style of selling, but all in all you'll love it! Got myself some nice souvenirs here! Loved the place! Also go there hungry and have a mea...  more »
  • Mercado 28 (you can go by bus from any point of Av. Kukulkan) is a market of crafts and souvenirs very very big, with a multitude of jobs. Prices did not seem to me very cheap, but you know the good bargaining is the one who takes a fair purchase, because the seller won't lose ever. Kicking this market - which are streets and streets which together with hundreds of local-, we went elsewhere which is like a typical small town with colourful houses, but which are shops. Is called "Plaza Bonita", don't miss it

  • Expensive crafts. Bad quality and cheesy. For good quality authentic crafts try going to the small villages around the Yucatan peninsula. Still Chiapas, Jalisco, Bajio, Oaxaca and Puebla have better and more stylish crafts. If those regions are in your travel plans save your money till you're over there.
  • The market was fun but the real gem was finding "The Cancun Alley" a small little pub run by a couple of really awesome Canadians! We will be back
  • Everyone BEWARE! The bus will drop you of at PLAZA 28 not El Mercado 28! In that area taxis should charge only 30 pesos to take you to the mercado 28, it's only 5 blocks away. Like many of us have experienced, men from the PLAZA 28 will corral you into the shop and the colors will attract you into the store. DON'T BE LURED IN!!!!! I beg you! You will find the exact same souvenirs for atleast half to triple the price off. For your way back you can ask around for a bus stop or you can take a taxi, but don't forget to negotiate your price back because obviously they will try to scam you. Don't listen to what the bus drivers have to say, they get commission off of how many tourist get off the bus, that's why it seems so glorious when they pay for your bus ticket back. El Mercado 28 is a beautiful, traditional market where you can find artisanal goods, shirts, keychains, shot glasses, and many many souvenirs. My favorite place was a stand that was selling personalized mugs, shot glasses, and beer glasses. They had different designs and they engrave whatever you want on them. 2 mugs for 100 pesos! That's about 6$. Now you can't beat that.
  • It's okay as long as you like tourist merchandise, most of the stuff come from tonala, jalisco AND way more expensive If you keep walking among the shops, the same things vary in price and quality, just gotta walk every corner and ask for all prices before shopping
  • Great place to get out and explore while staying in Cancun. Plan to spend some time here and be prepared to haggle. Worth visiting all the shops to get the best price. Go with a group and see who can get the cheapest price. Top tip make sure you are in the Mercado 28 a few stores nearby will attempt to hijack you on your way.
