  • Hormiguero is very small – really only two excavated structures. It was definitely worth the trip, however. Both structures have a couple of the nicest facades I've seen in the area. The site was free...  more »
  • arriving at this archaeological site is complicated, it must first reach Xpuhil, and from there head South very early to reach another ejido and from there walk approximately 6 to 8 km, it is best to ask for help and not come to the rainy season. There are only 2 explored structures, but the facade of the main structure well worth admiring it, and take clear pictures at different angles, the structure more small is impaired, the most beautiful is the walk to bequeath the stay in the area does not last more than 30 minutes, there is no more works, later there is another ejido called November 20 talk to Manager of the school and a paddock check a cave which is below the pasture, where there was an underground river, is a natural wonder, and you can still see vestiges of the Mayan inhabitants of centuries back, everything can be done in 1 day, very tired, spend the night in the ejido to return to Xpuhil the next day , or down to the last ejido, to see the archeological site of the wrist.

  • The main structure is so impressive that simply couldn't move me site in several minutes. The site is extensive and is nestled between the forest, so it is advisable to carry enough water, by so-called repellent or clothing that covers and hat. There are some trails that appear to not be open to the public at 100% but worth it worth exploring.
