Vallarta Botanical Gardens, Cabo Corrientes

4.6
#1 of 44 in Parks in Jalisco
Garden Nature / Park
Inspect a wonderfully vibrant variety of plants at Vallarta Botanical Gardens, an environmentally minded site set on 8 ha (20 ac) of native forest and perfectly manicured landscape. Hike the extensive trails through the flora, and keep one eye on the canopy looking out for exotic birds, especially at the beginning or end of the day. It's worth bringing some bug spray and considering wearing long trousers and sleeves to protect against biting insects. Be sure to bring some swimwear and a towel so you can cool off with a dip in the Rio Horcones. Using our custom trip planner, Cabo Corrientes attractions like Vallarta Botanical Gardens can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • The Gardens were pretty, but disappointing. It is the end of the dry season in Puerto Vallarta, so the gardens are not as lush. We also arrived around noon, which was very hot and humid. There were se...  more »

  • Beautiful place to spend the day. Lots of different things to see. There are hiking trails through the woods and down to the river. There is a also a lovely restaurant to enjoy food and drink. I was also told this was a great place to come to see birds (which I did see many, but didn't know the species) Prepare to cover up and bring bug spray as the no-see-ums are legendary!
  • We went here twice, took the bus there and back both times. The bus rate was the same except for once when they charged all foreigners (but not locals) 30 pesos. Ah well, it is still a lot less expensive than a taxi. The views on the bus ride are amazing if you sit facing the ocean. The bus ride coming back can get quite full especially if you come back in the late afternoon. You may not be able to get a seat and may need to stand. The gardens were beautiful. Many beautiful plants in bloom. Staff is very knowledgeable. There are some paths you can explore into the jungle and by the river as well. The restaurant was great and the staff were outstanding. It's a cool and refreshing sitting on the 2cnd level on a hot afternoon. We went twice and I would definitely go again. A beautiful and serene place to visit! Thank you.
  • Wonderful day! A very easy ride by public bus from Puerto Vallarta and worlds away from the hotel scene. Lush gardens, varied settings. Don't miss the action at the bird feeders near the restaurant. Lovely restaurant and gift shop.
  • It's a good place for hiking. We went the first week of April when it's still dry so it was pretty but I'm sure it's better in the summer and fall. Lovely little restaurant. I wore pants and bug spray and didn't get any bug bites.
  • One of the most magnificent garden collections I've ever been to. Make sure you check out the river, you literally have to climb rocks & boulders to get to the heavy rushing water. & if you love a good hike, the jaguar trail is for you. It takes you to & from the river bed just be prepared for a full fledged adventure!
