Vallarta Botanical Gardens, Cabo Corrientes

(4.6/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
Inspect a wonderfully vibrant variety of plants at Vallarta Botanical Gardens, an environmentally minded site set on 8 ha (20 ac) of native forest and perfectly manicured landscape. Hike the extensive trails through the flora, and keep one eye on the canopy looking out for exotic birds, especially at the beginning or end of the day. It's worth bringing some bug spray and considering wearing long trousers and sleeves to protect against biting insects. Be sure to bring some swimwear and a towel so you can cool off with a dip in the Rio Horcones. • We went here twice, took the bus there and back both times. The bus rate was the same except for once when they charged all foreigners (but not locals) 30 pesos. Ah well, it is still a lot less expensive than a taxi. The views on the bus ride are amazing if you sit facing the ocean. The bus ride coming back can get quite full especially if you come back in the late afternoon. You may not be able to get a seat and may need to stand. The gardens were beautiful. Many beautiful plants in bloom. Staff is very knowledgeable. There are some paths you can explore into the jungle and by the river as well. The restaurant was great and the staff were outstanding. It's a cool and refreshing sitting on the 2cnd level on a hot afternoon. We went twice and I would definitely go again. A beautiful and serene place to visit! Thank you.
  • It's a good place for hiking. We went the first week of April when it's still dry so it was pretty but I'm sure it's better in the summer and fall. Lovely little restaurant. I wore pants and bug spray and didn't get any bug bites.
  • One of the most magnificent garden collections I've ever been to. Make sure you check out the river, you literally have to climb rocks & boulders to get to the heavy rushing water. & if you love a good hike, the jaguar trail is for you. It takes you to & from the river bed just be prepared for a full fledged adventure!
  • Beautiful place, wonderful variety of plants. The hiking trails are neat and can all be done in the day. Lunch was pretty good. They have a restaurant on the third floor but they let me eat on the second floor where it was more breezy and a better view in my opinion. Would definitely go back and totally recommend.
  • The vegetation is diverse and exotic. We ate at the restaurant above the gift shop. Incredible views accompanied by good food. It's worth the visit!
