  • Our family stayed on Half Moon Bay and walked down to Yal-Ku to snorkel. There are two entrances run by two different companies. I don't know which is better, but we took a left when the road ended an...  more »
  • Very very nice place where you can discover many tropical fish on the side of the main entrance. The place is very clean and very well maintained. Very clear water. Think about taking mask and tuba.un very nice souvenir.

  • We broke up on the advice of several tourists who stayed at the same hotel, this lagoon. The tip directly to be 09:00 local, is indeed advisable, useful but not long. Several groups were outside the lagoon already at 08:45. With $14 per person and 3 $ for a safe, this spot is relatively cheap, but disappointed we were. The plant is idyllic and the underwater world at our hotel was nice, but more diverse than in this lagoon. A few few fish in a winding interesting scenery, we might consider relatively undisturbed for 30 minutes. The entire lagoon was already überschwämmt with tons of tourist groups, which were carted out of the bus at 09:45. The group consisted of very many people, all with West and fins armed. It was possible to snorkel (to cross a Hautpverkehrsstraße in Rome during the rush hour would be similarly difficult), nor to leave the water (long lines of entries). The fish were no longer be seen, from this time she had already taken the escape or the water / sand was upset by the crowds and fins so that you could not see the hand in front of eyes. Too bad but I would not recommend this lagoon.

Where to stay in Akumal

For comfortable beachfront options near the town itself, look to Half Moon Bay, whose curving coastline serves as the hub of diving and other beach activities in the region. Budget options can be difficult to find in Akumal and in the neighboring coastal towns--expect to pay the same, if not more, per night in the nearby town of Puerto Aventuras.
