Half Moon Bay, Akumal

(4/5 based on 380+ reviews on the web)
For peace and serenity away from the tourist crowds head to Half Moon Bay. You can swim in the calm waters, but be careful not to step on any creatures--swim shoes may be a good idea. Snorkel in the clear waters and admire the marine wildlife around you. Access to the beach is easier for those staying in accommodations along Half Moon Bay, but it is accessible to all. Take care in the water on windy days, as it is not as protected by outlying reefs as other bays nearby. Add Half Moon Bay to your Akumal travel itinerary, and discover new vacation ideas by using our Akumal trip generator.

  • In contrast to the Akumal Beach the beach is narrower of the East of the HalfMoon Bay, slippers are strongly recommended due to the rocks near the shore. Crystal clear water, clean, some nice restaurants on the beach. A wonderful place to swim and to snorkel.

  • During our stay the bay was only calm enough to snorkel two of the seven days we stayed. The bay is shallow and uncrowded with turtles, fish and coral.  more »
  • We snorkelled twice in Half Moon Bay. The first time about 3 p.m. and there were lots of fish. I saw a squid for the first time. I found many cleaning stations and got some good underwater pics. Two m...  more »
