Cenote Santa Cruz, Akumal

4.5
#4 of 7 in Parks in Akumal
Cave Nature / Park
Head deep below the surface on a guided tour of Cenote Santa Cruz, a system of underground reservoirs in a limestone cave. Known as cenotes, the reservoirs of crystal clear water lie in underground limestone chambers, believed to be more than 50 million years old. Impressive rock formations and the clear, clean water create an otherworldly atmosphere as you explore the system. The tour will provide life jackets and waterproof flashlights, but make sure you bring comfortable clothing, shoes you don't mind getting wet, and your own snorkel. Plan your Cenote Santa Cruz visit and explore what else you can see and do in Akumal using our Akumal vacation trip planner.

  • Amazing nature reserve! It is worth much if what you want is really to have an encounter with nature. The cenote of the cave is beautiful with its crystal clear waters. Park is in very well maintained throughout and the staff is very friendly. The attention of the Manager Karla Lujambio was excellent, cared about that I had a wonderful stay and showed us his knowledge of all areas of the Park and the animals that live there. Highly recommended experience and is great to learn about the plants and animals that live there.

  • This was outstanding place to visit. Be aware the water is freezing cold. Long day but staff made you feel very welcome and plenty of food and drink to hand. Made a new friend in a cockerel.  more »

  • Our driver and JP picked us up directly from our beach house in Akumal and drove us about 15 minutes into the jungle on a very bumpy ride to the Cenote. JP was very knowledgeable and kept the tour through the Cenote moving at a perfect pace. We would stop on occasion to look around and swim. All in all, we spent almost 2 hours in the cave. It was beautiful and a lot of fun. Definitely would recommend.

  • We could not reach this cenote, not even the local residents knew him, the road was virtually impassable! Shame because on TripAdvisor talking about this well ...
