Categories: Caves, Bodies of Water, Nature & Parks
Visit the ecologically minded Aktun Chen, a 161 ha (400 ac) rainforest preserve, where wild spider monkeys and whitetail deer roam free. Venture into a 5-million-year-old limestone cave, and wander though caverns filled with bizarre formations, finally reaching a pool at the caverns' mouth for a cooling swim. If you’re a bit of an adrenaline junkie, then try the network of ziplines, and soar through the trees observing a bird's-eye view of the jungle. Put Aktun Chen at the forefront of your travel plans using our Akumal tourist route planner.
