La Quebrada, Acapulco

4.3
#1 of 30 in Nature in Pacific Coast
Indulge in ocean-front dining, while divers take your breath away as they jump from cliffs into the open sea, at La Quebrada. Jumping from as high as 35 m (115 ft), divers plummet into water that is usually 4 meters (13 ft) deep. Cliff diving began here in 1930s when men would casually compete against each other to see who could dive from the highest point. It has remained a local tradition ever since, and was a favourite extreme sport of divers around the world during the 1970s. The show's great worth the cost you pay for a show and you see those who want, we come to the end of the penultimate show, and the guys at the entrance told us that for the same price we could see the latter, really guys risking their lives to nailed to the sea at that time, already late at night and with the fairly aggressive sea you only hear the waves hit with a stone wall, the truth gives up to fear, and the divers very bold, from the moment in which you put chinita skin, since upload without any kind of protection and not for stairs, but scale barefoot through the wall, really impressed me, I don't really remember the cost, but worth , coming out there to buy crafts, eating, drinking, etc. The divers after the show are put in the output and if you like you can give them money. I think that if give them something at the end of accounts the way in which you have the edge of suspense I think that if they should at least be rewarded.

Costs 30-40 pesos per person to go in to the viewing area. This gets you a show of about 5-6 dives. Awesome to see.  more »

These are brave, brave men! I had a blast watching them. They also work the shops and kiosks, nothing but true devotion.

A must for anyone traveling to Acapulco. The lunch was American fare mostly. The Hamburger was good my husband had the enchiladas and they were just OK. The cliff divers were spectacular. They meet you outside the restaurant afterward. They let you take a picture with them for. 5$

Great time of the year to be here, not crowded. But very hot when the sun is out.

Where to stay in Acapulco

Acapulco offers accommodations catering to travelers at extreme ends of the financial scale. Pricey but luxurious beach resorts fringe the city's wineglass-curved bay and fan out to the surrounding coastline, while a dense block of high-rise holiday apartments and hotels dominates Acapulco Dorado. Among the ritzy options, you can find a wide range of inexpensive beach bungalows and hostels catering to younger, party-focused visitors. Stay a bit farther away from the center at the rocky outcrop of Las Playas to enjoy views over Acapulco's famous cliffs.
