Trou aux Cerfs, Mauritius

(1.7/5 based on 480+ reviews on the web)
Visit Trou aux Cerfs to see the crater of the dormant volcano and views across the island. Standing 605 m (1,985 ft) above sea level, the volcano enjoys a thick covering of vegetation, offering good routes for nature walks. The view from the top affords an extensive panorama of the island from an atmospheric vantage point. The plants growing in the crater make it an interesting natural sight on an island that owes so much of its scenery to volcanic activity. Note that access to the crater itself is along a dangerously steep embankment, so you should not attempt to descend into it. • The crater itself is not much, but the view is great all around on the island! And after a short walk you circling even the whole crater. If you're in the vicinity, the definitely worth!

  • This location gives you a good view of Curepipe and beyond. Car parking is free, but limited. This is a site of a volcano, but the crater is fenced off and you cannot get a good view of it. There are ...  more »
  • If you've been here a dozen times on the island of Mauritius, you have all seen then Yes, why not get there. It is a crater filled vegetation. So if you like the large craters with vegetation, it is good otherwise, don't waste time here.
