Parc Francois Leguat, Rodrigues Island

Categories: Wildlife Areas, Nature & Parks
Inspirock Rating:
4.5/5 based on 260+ reviews on the web
Discover the natural history of the island nation at Parc Francois Leguat, an animal and plant conservation project. Since its colonization 300 years ago, the island of Rodrigues has lost its native forestland, and much of its indigenous vegetation and wildlife have become extinct. The reserve protects the island's natural heritage over an area of 20 hectares (49 acres), reintroducing, managing, and conserving endemic species. Stroll around the well-maintained footpaths to spot giant tortoises and the rare Rodrigues fruit bat, and take a guided tour of the cave system. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Rodrigues Island holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Parc Francois Leguat and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • It's the humor of the guide that gives any value to this visit, good Ambassador of his small island. Turtles are numerous and easily can be approached. You can combine the visit with that of the cave which is more for children...

  • Original tour in the middle of freedom turtles that you run behind the neck for caresses. The cave is in see also, the Museum and why not lunch a nice moment of discovery. You will even be the sponsor of a turtle if you wish.

  • Very nice, guide was very professional. Keep it up. He knew his subject very well. But needs to be more accessible by road.
