Parc Francois Leguat, Rodrigues Island

(4.5/5 based on 320 reviews on the web)
Discover the natural history of the island nation at Parc Francois Leguat, an animal and plant conservation project. Since its colonization 300 years ago, the island of Rodrigues has lost its native forestland, and much of its indigenous vegetation and wildlife have become extinct. The reserve protects the island's natural heritage over an area of 20 hectares (49 acres), reintroducing, managing, and conserving endemic species. Stroll around the well-maintained footpaths to spot giant tortoises and the rare Rodrigues fruit bat, and take a guided tour of the cave system. For travelers who use our international travel planner, Rodrigues Island holidays become easier to arrange, with trips to the Parc Francois Leguat and other attractions mapped out and timetabled.

  • Interesting experience of interaction with turtles. Chance to finish with a visit to a cave. Interesting museum that traces the history of the island.

  • Walk in the middle of the turtles with a guide nice, funny and interesting informative discovery in a beautiful décor. Attention to sunburn... There is little shade on the course! The cave is of less interest the restaurant is very correct.
