  • Yes the place is old, tatty & a little decrepit but the Dodo exhibit is all you need to see. If you want to find out what happened to these birds this is where you will find out & see a few stuffed sp...  more »
  • A lot of Mauritian history on display. But certain items are in a piteous state. Still worth the visit. A dodo replica can also be seen on display. Just too bad the old baobab tree in front of the mus...  more »
  • If your walking past it go and have a look. It's free so it's worth a quick glance at one of the only remaining dodo skeletons.

  • Small, but perfectly formed. It is housed in what looks like an old colonial house, with tall ceilings. Good exhibits on the Dodo and the history of the island. I liked the multicoloured Dodos in the grounds. It only takes 30-60 minutes to look around. Well worth seeing.
  • Very nice place to document yourself away from the noise and hot weather of the capital. Entery is free but there's no assistance at all.
  • The only natural history museum in Mauritius. Not very dynamic but very interesting nevertheless. The whale seems very artificial now, after all these years of painting and repainting.
  • A little gem that has a really good collection of local specimens of species still with us and many that, unfortunately, are no longer.
  • Came in with zero expectations, and was pleasantly surprised. Free entry, a lot of information and more exhibits than I expected. Worth a trip if around the area.
