Do some upscale shopping and admire the views at Citadel, a former military base set in an impressive location. Built during 1834 and 1840 when the land was under British colonial rule, the fort sits atop a hill, well positioned to spot incoming attackers and fires in the city below. Now offering extensive views of the port town and coastline, the citadel has been refurbished to provide a range of boutique stores within its iconic blackened brick walls. If shopping in historical monuments isn't your thing, history buffs will enjoy the canons, positioned authentically, and the neatly restored walls.
