Citadel, Port Louis
(2.5/5 based on 300 reviews on the web)
Do some upscale shopping and admire the views at Citadel, a former military base set in an impressive location. Built during 1834 and 1840 when the land was under British colonial rule, the fort sits atop a hill, well positioned to spot incoming attackers and fires in the city below. Now offering extensive views of the port town and coastline, the citadel has been refurbished to provide a range of boutique stores within its iconic blackened brick walls. If shopping in historical monuments isn't your thing, history buffs will enjoy the canons, positioned authentically, and the neatly restored walls. • After a stroll through Port Louis, we decided to go see this citadel on foot, the walk was picturesque, but pleasant, ca goes up but take your time it is done well, except that high heat, once at the top, the view of Port Louis is breathtaking, on the other hand we regret that the latter is not summer house , but may be it would have lost its authenticity

  • The Citadel is in good condition, said apart from the stones and guns, there is nothing else to be discovered in its walls. Attention quite a market for access to the walls. On the other hand, it allows to have an overview of Port Louis and to navigate in this crowded city.
