Indulge your eyes and stomach at Central Market, a bazaar-style indoor market. Explore the narrow, bustling streets and bargain with the sellers for a range of goods, including souvenirs, trinkets, and clothing. Browse the stalls selling local spices, fruits, and vegetables, attractively displayed in colorful arrangements. A good place to find local street food, the market boasts excellent dal puri, freshly cooked and full of flavor. Even if you aren't in the mood for shopping, the trip is worthwhile to see locals at work and get a sense of daily life in the town. • Great market. Shows by its variety of goods the rich cultural diversity of the island. Well worth a stroll around the various stalls.
  • It is chaotic, dirty, with pulgosos/mangy dogs and cats and is crowded. In addition the souvenirs are a scam (not bargain much) and you can find them just at the Caudan Waterfront. Now that you are there it is worth to take a look but it is worthless.

  • We just loved the choices offered around the market, not too pushy sellers, good and cheap local food and drinks. Hard to find parking space. Extremely humid weather.. Loved the buzzing market and the whole city.
  • Since the recent enforcing of the law prohibiting street hawkers from operating in the area, the central market has become more accessible for everyone. Still some work to be done regarding general cleanliness but the situation has greatly improved.
  • Good bargains and cheap food Lovely place to shop for souvenirs
  • Avoid. Annoying street hawkers, pickpockets, con artists and a foul stench. Quite frankly, why anyone would want to visit here is beyond me.
  • Authentic and traditional mauritian lifestyle in action.
