  • Very bad tourist shops there. Tourists are bound to be exploited and scammed there. I would not recommend any tourist to buy even though you find the price below the actual market price as there is al...  more »
  • The market has changed over the years. The ground floor is street food, fruit, spices and vegetables and there are some interesting products on sale. The first floor is fashion, household stuff (table...  more »
  • Far from tourist clichés, go see this market because Yes it deserves for the colors, the smells even those who face, the sounds... Authentic ambience. On the second floor shops sell goods to tourists, fabrics, wooden objects, woven baskets, jewellery, there is something for all tastes and all budgets.

  • If you're coming from a south Asian country, or Seattle, you'll get this market. There is loads of stalls, everyone bickers about pricing, everyone tries to swindle you with 'I will give you the cheapest. Only for you'. So yeah, pretty nostalgic. The food is ready good, textbook Mauritian, loads of places for dholpuri and Alouda, and really cheap. BUY SOUVENIRS FROM HERE. YOU'LL FIND EVERYTHING, AND DIRT CHEAP.
  • Vibrant market great to see both the textiles and fruit and vegetables market. As long as you can cope with the locals vying for your attention. Gets your senses working so colorful and stunning fragrance from the fruits and spices
  • Colorful place for vegetables and fruits. Very crowdy. food also available as well as local crafts. Visitors welcomed but has to be careful on price asked. Situated in centre of city.
  • You can get just about anything here, Mauritius the shirts, souvenirs, fresh vegetables, meat, fish, ornaments etc. Much cheaper then any where else.
  • Lively and colourful market. Good produce. Tourists must watch out for asking price.

Where to stay in Port Louis

Port Louis doesn't have a huge range of places to stay--and the city is not the most bustling after dark. Still, you'll find a couple of options here and there. On the waterfront, a few viable luxury lodgings offer amenities such as annexed seafood restaurants, bars, and air conditioning. Alternatively, head farther down the coast for numerous better value options in dedicated tourist resorts. Even relatively small fishing villages have some decent homestay or guesthouse lodgings.
