I wanted to see the Eureka House as the location in the middle of the mountains and the forest appeared nice with the water falling and I so wanted to see a colonial House, because began the history of this poor with the colony, which is truly not far back. The House seems belongs today to be very rich to a Franco Mauritian. Because the maintenance is very expensive. The admission cost about 250 rupees pP (the tickets are very expensive in Mauritius and is comparable to the Museum entrance fees of in Switzerland). To get free still a tour and a guide that tells about the House. After or before the tour you can walk to the waterfalls. Unfortunately, no one had mentioned so far in the reviews that you need at least sneakers to reach the waterfalls. So I was with my sandals there and the way was very steep and difficult. Fortunately I survived it ;-). But footwear is a must. The water traps was not worth watching but if you're already there, you have to see it. My husband is of the opinion that one may still support such colonial houses with the visit what I can absolutely understand. In this era of modern slavery, the English have lived anything but modest in Mauritius, which is really sad. Too bad you can undo history. Even today in Mauritius suffer from the colony, only different, just modern (more modern). Sad but true. This nation is unique, the flag says very much.

A very nice place, feel free to go on the guided tour, you will learn a lot of thing, our guide was very nice! The historic place is well highlighted, you will see that the ground floor but it's very interesting! Then you can also go to the beautiful waterfall at the end of a trail! In short a place to see for those who are curious and love story!

I have read many articles on the House Eureka, but when I visited it, I was really disappointed, the House is authentic but there is only a part of the ground floor which is open to visitors, the rest of the House is the restaurant and offices. The waterfall is pretty, but access is not easy, especially in wet weather, avoid with young children
