Le Morne Brabant, Le Morne

4.7
The rugged, mountainous peninsula of Le Morne Brabant stands as a World Heritage Site and symbol of the abolitionist movement in the country. In the late 18th and early 19th centuries, runaway slaves sought shelter here, living in the caves cut from the basalt rock. In 1835, Mauritius abolished slavery, and a police expedition traveled to the peninsula to inform the runaways of their freedom. Tragically, the community misunderstood the intentions of the approaching officers, and many jumped from the cliffs to their deaths. Book a guided tour of this historical site, and along the way explore the peninsula's unique microclimate, interesting plant life, and impressive geological features. • Guys - I am going to give you a worst case scenario review for those of you who want to get to the summit of Le Morne Brabant. I scoured the internet for as much info as I could before taking the hike...  more »
  • It was definitely a trip worth it, but be warned it's a medium to advance a challenging road trip! Mountain/Rock whether they like it, we'll call it, is a remnant of a very ancient vulkanologickej activities of the island. The mountain is an icon of Mauricia, all promotional photographs from here, just showing the mountain LeMorne. The first output of the 2/3 3, 6 km is very simple and it is, say, and the latest 1/3 is intense with many obstacles. Especially the part in our work on this long, approx. 50 m, which has a slope of approx. 45-50, where you will be using all the limbs! I'm no athlete, mountaineer, and neither do the hills vystupy, but with a little taste and a desire to be there vyškriabete. As little kids, we škraiabali all over the place, so I'll say it in a VAT of 50r to I and it was worth it even if I had to! The output of the 2:40 also insisted, with frequent breaks in the last third. The descent lasted for only 1:30. If you stay on top of the train, so the total trip will take you approx 5hod. Neodporučam výkendy when there can be crowded, and you have to, it is recommended to groups co descend down. Don't forget this:-go in the morning at 6:00-7:/Hungary (he already is very hot)-water (1 l/person, some crackers to strengthen at the top)-solid shoes or sneakers-I recommend easy rupsak with water and her camera (and more simply), nothing more, every kilo plus feel! -insect repellent in the first part, you go through the rainforest-watch weather forecast (the best for CMS: WeatherPro http://weatherpro.eu)-nechodte in the evening or if it was raining it will be pršat! It is a dangerous path to šmíka, mainly in stone work,-prikrívku head-I do not recommend if you are asthmatic-children-I do not recommend to do common-10r prestavky memory, output is at your own risk! I went without a guide, both of which are written, holes in the gate of the myths of the fence, he is so večsina people. -If you do not feel fit to specify output until the last third of the nepodnikajte! Do not expect that the mat you have fantastic 360 *! Quit when you cross that is the prospect, about 50 m below the Summit, with the views of approximately 250. But it's worth it, if the weather is nice! Access: it is one of two things will definitely kroré negative, otherwise I would have given up LeMorn 5. Certainly go away, offers access to the first gate, which is on the level of the sea. And as you turn from the main road:, off the Hill in a bend in the wooden tabuly, see photo "Access to Moutain 3, 5 km" from the šatndartnej road to the forest path with holes in them as for tanks, but after 1, 5 km you will reach the first gate with info about history while the illuminated, uvedeneho , see photo. If you go on foot, this section will give you a trip zhnusí. Go away very, very carefully, and nenechavajte it lies half way between parked. We saw one car with a broken window. Park your car and take the car up to the front gate. There will be more cars and bigger safety. Brana is to 7:00 is closed, but the bypass is playfully with a space, now next door. For the next with a new length of sidewalk inforamciou branou tabula and vyhliadkovych pointoch. After entering the trail you will arrive in 2/3 to another brane is easy, which also closed (I for the public), but in turn it, after about 20 m next to the hole in the left. Hurry it will no longer open. About 100 m below the Summit is a output via stone, e.g. Frost about 50 m long, where the missing rope or chain, which one could pridržiavat, and this food the next check thing. If it is wet, it will be a big adventure! So very carefully up and down the slope of the 45-50, and only at your own risk! And one more note: the mountain is beautiful even at pohlade from any beaches near her and is very photogenic
