Ile aux Cerfs, Mauritius

4.1
Island Beach Must See
An uninhabited island in the largest lagoon in the country, Ile aux Cerfs offers relaxation and activity in equal measure. The 87 hectare (214 acre) island boasts shining white sand beaches and thick, lush plant life, with wilder areas ripe for exploration. More manicured parts balance things out with golf courses and beach resort entertainment, including bars and restaurants. The island gets its name from the stags brought here to be hunted for sport. None remain on the island today, but the wide sandy beaches offer sport of a different variety, with multiple companies renting out equipment and providing lessons for snorkeling, diving, parasailing, sailing, and more. Note that crowds of both locals and tourists arrive by midday. Discover how to plan a Trou d'eau Douce trip in just a few steps with Inspirock's itinerary builder.

  • Ile aux Cerfs will always be one of my favourite places to visit, with its incredible sand banks, clear blue seas it is truly a sight for sore eyes! If you are taking the boat over you will be hassled...  more »
  • I attended a hike on the last day of December 2017 on this beautiful island but I was pretty disappointed I understand that in the past has been a beautiful place but now has become a beach too touristy and structured and the system wastewater sewer of the place is not satisfactory to that amazingly the water is dirty. Do not hide the disappointment I expected a place clear blue water had an impressive amount of white bubbles that were not certainly the bathroom inviting Sin!

  • We visited the island to the deer with 10 years ' intervals and w e have seen the difference of constructions for tourist attractions acrobranches, sanitary facilities which is demmage is the island loses its natural side should not be stayed on these portions of beach crowded with isa mauritius we go we still time to make a turn and when we got tired we're going on a piece of private beach but mm in 10 years there has been a massive deforestation to build a beautiful golf course and the attic c ' is what they lose all their bullets because waterfront and scarp to recover from the journey! the beach we left av ec at least 10 balls in golf so to do but it is more authentic to my taste

  • Another hyped location in Mauritius with super duper heavy priced items and food on the island for sale. No activities much can be done for the time allowed by the agents. Yes, this place can be amazing if you come here directly without any tour operator and have full day to spend time. No Over night stay hotels are available apart from a few which are super costly.
  • Beautiful beaches and stunning scenery! The ride to the island was very nice too! There is also chances to swim together with fishes!
  • Nice little island off the main island. If you don't need all the food amenities and sunlounger which are mostly crowded and for an extra cost to rent move a bit further to the eastern beach. It's quiet there. Basically avoid weekends and public holidays.
  • Nice place with a variety of water sports to chose from. Kinda pricy
  • Beware of Sea Urchins. I got badly pierced by the thorns, n there's absolutely no warning signs put up. Had to go to the hospital to cut my skin to remove them. The island is pretty, the speed boat ride is quite a thrill. But not all that worth

Where to stay in Trou d'eau Douce

Accommodations on the popular islands off Trou d'Eau Douce coastline can be pricey, so the town offers more wallet-friendly options ideal for visitors looking for affordable comfort. The area includes a five-star hotel, but if you're looking for something on the lower end of the price range, budget and mid-range hotels are available right on or a short walk from the beach. Keep in mind that waterfront rooms fill up fast during high season, so make your reservations well in advance.
